Took a look at best buy and Newegg this morning. All 4090's sold out as i expected.
Best Buy gets more in stock all the time. If you have time keep trying. Took me a couple of hours, but I finally got one from Best Buy.

Yea I'll try but it's not a huge priority right now. Need to buy an engagement ring soon which I don't want to have my credit line affected if I can't pay for it via ACH online and need to do financing with the jewelery site.

Probably a good idea to try and get one after I order the ring.

My power bill has increased about 70% two months ago. This means I am paying around double what people here say their rates are.

I feel irresponsible running the 3080 above 0.8v because it will draw over 220W if I do that. At stock clocks and voltages, this is a ~310W card with a small performance increase.

Using MSI Afterburner's curve editor, I was able to keep the card from going above 1.77 GHz and 0.793v which applies at login:

It doesn't matter what GPU you buy these days, they all benefit from a healthy undervolt.

Interesting dynamic. Sellers on Amazon have increased their prices to capitalize on the 4090 craze but Amazon itself is trying to get rid of its GPU stock at attractive prices. Second day in a row that I'm seeing a further $25 drop in their prices.

All of the big companies have reactive dynamic pricing.

Nvidia is sitting on a ton of 30xx series inventory. The 4080s joke pricing is purposeful to make the old cards look like a deal so that Nvidia can offload them before they’re worthless. I’d bet that they’re trickling 4090 stock out too to make it look way more hyped than it is. Even still, my local MC had cards all day yesterday, but it’s FE or nothing for me this time around, and I’ll wait until it’s readily available rather than play the stupid fake engineered hype game.

Could be nice to see what AMD has in store as well before buying.

Dude, I worry if you guys are returning to the Stone Age, hunting out in the woods for fur and wood, and fresh animal meat and fat to keep yourself warm

Certainly feels that way at times. I'm guessing the fast forward to the past crowd will be best pleased.

Worse, people are starting to act like we're in the dark ages. Literally. You'll already get told of if you dare to have electric lighting on. So, all round we're in for a "fun" winter.

Quite fun to point out; "Yeah, that light uses all of 2-4W per (LED) bulb". Then seeing the reaction.

What are your plans? Complete black out in the house? Residence in one corner with everyone huddled together around a single heat source? LED torchlights to walk around the rest of the house if needed?

Not really. I just tell people to mind their own business in a polite way. When they really -want- to act stupidly, who am I to stop them?

Is it just me, or are NVidia video card prices Disgustingly high, still? Almost like there's some new GPU-minable coin, that no-one's talking about... MeowCoin? That can't be it, can it?

RTX 3050 for $350??? Are they joking?

Yeah it's looking like my next card will be AMD unless something drastic happens in the next few months. I'm not paying these prices for Nvidia cards that are already 2 years old.

What kind of idiot pays $350 for a 1660 Super plus 2GB of VRAM? That card has never made any sense whatsoever once gpu mining dried up.

It almost made sense, when a brand-new 1660 Super was also $350, but you can get a 1660 ti for $229 @ Newegg right now. Why isn't the price of the 3050 following suite?

And what's with the GTX 1630? Those finally showed up too.
