I know mine is the loudest thing in my computer, hands down. Of course, I do have quiet components... you might not notice it if your computer isn't quiet.

If you want quiet, Samsung drives are the way to go. Their Spin-somethingIcan'tremeber drives are *extremely* quiet. But not as well performuing as the Seagates. WD drives are noiser than I would like, b ut their new fluid bearings make them quiet*er*.
