Are you a fan of a video card brand?

Just curious what the breakdown is of fans of one brand vs another. I flipped a coin 6 times to decide which order to list the brands (it came out 4 tails, 2 heads to list AMD first).

AMD
Nvidia
Both
Neither (choose this if you are a fan of Intel or other unlisted brand)
anti-AMD (you dislike something about AMD cards)
anti-Nvidia (you dislike something about Nvidia cards)

I buy for price/performance only. If I had any preference it would be to cheer for the underdog which is amd.

It seems like AMD and Nvidia have been so close to parity at any given price point for so long now that being a "Fan" of one or the other is pretty useless.

That said, my last 3 cards have been AMD (4870, 6870, 7870), and the 3 before that were Nvidia (6600GT, 7600GT, 8800GT). I think the only reason I stick with one brand for multiple product cycles is that I get familiar with their naming scheme, and as long as the price/performance ratio is close I go with what I've become comfortable with. If Nvidia comes out with something that outperforms the AMD offering in my budget I'll switch again probably.

Not the way I remember it. AMD has been ahead in framerate bang for buck for the whole 6000 and 7000 series.

NVIDIA has its perks, of course, but that's not something that compensates for the lower bang for buck and somehow makes them "close to parity". It's just one more thing that separates the two, making it easier for people to pick sides.

Ive owned both. Imo both brands are solid, it comes down to drivers for me. Ive had AMD for the past like 2 years. There are some driver issues I got tired of so I went back to nvidia in December. There are driver issues with both but nvidia seem to be smoother to me.

I'm an NV fan but due to my non-gaming needs, I was compelled to get AMD cards for the last few years. I'm not really looking to buy new VGA cards at this point, so I guess I'll see what happens in the next few years. Disclosure: I own NVDA stock.

Not a fanboy of either brand, but I always get the upgrade bug once Nvidia's line begins releasing and I see real world performance.

I voted Nvidia, because I interpreted the poll question as one pertaining to a longer time frame - generally I don't jump ship quickly, because I value more than just performance or bang for the buck.
As an enthusiast with specific needs I have felt more at home with Nvidia during the last 6 years. But I'm open to change GPU brands should AMD catch up in the areas that are important to me.

Maybe. All I'm going off of is the fact that I always seemed to be able to find an Nvidia card that benched about the same as the AMD card I went with for very close to the same price. I simply went with AMD because I felt like I knew what I was getting better than with Nvidia.

I really don't get why there are always stupid options to the polls around here. There are only 3 options to the question asked: I like AMD. I like Nvidia. I like both/niether, thus neutral.

Clicking Anti-AMD doesn't make a person Pro-nVidia and vice versa. Do you guys that make these poll feel obligated to put something for all the options?

It means AMD makes cards for the poor people, I think. That, or I sure felt poor after I dumped $400 on my old 7970.

I chose AMD because I just like them, I currently have a X1600 Pro, It is on the extreme of low end and I will problably get a HD7770 within the next few months. It was a dream to overclock and now have it at almost a third more CPU clock and a little over 30MHz memory clock. It WILL play GTA SA on full settings at about 50FPS which is good enough for me for now. I remember also using the IGPU that came with a Intel E1400 and it wasnt too shabby either (Minecraft @45+ FPS)

I was just making fun of your use of the wording "fact or something" in defense of his post.

The only reason i have a nvidia card is because my Home theater required it for 3D as it uses 3D Vision
