So is it a fact that AMD cards are for the poor, or something?

Sorry, guys, didn't mean to get everyone so rustled. It's just a long running joke. We have regular lan parties that are open to anyone. Anyone that shows up with an AMD card get a little extra hazing.

I buy for price/performance only. If I had any preference it would be to cheer for the underdog which is amd.

Perf/$, Perf/W and OC scaling/headroom are the major factors. Don't care about the brand.

It's close-minded to ally oneself to a particular brand "just because".

The only reason i have a nvidia card is because my Home theater required it for 3D as it uses 3D Vision

Edit: Just option 1

I was just teasing. Option #1 is Pro, and Option #5 is Anti - AMD.

Rustled? Sir, you almost started a flame war! Many virtual lives were at stake!

As for hazing, when my friends buy an nVidia card we gouge one of their eyes out. Only one ever bought a second nVidia card, and sadly, he no longer games either

But I always get nvidia cards for free, so by that metric nVidia wins!

I was just making fun of your use of the wording "fact or something" in defense of his post.

So, is it a fact - or something? I'd lean, something. But I guess you missed that part

I am saying that if he is stating a fact about his circle of friends, I don't think that's baiting per se. I'm not here to pick a fight about semantics. OR SOMETHING.

I assume because he can no longer see, right?

My cards (that I can remember):
-NV GeForce 5650
-NV 6800 Ultra
-ATI X1950 Pro
-ATI HD 2900
-NV GTX280
-NV GT430
-ATI HD 6950
-ATI HD 6670
-ATI HD 6870

I tend to prefer to match NV cards with Intel systems, and ATI cards with AMD systems, but not always. Prices make as much difference to me as performance (and perf/$).

I voted both.

Not a "fan" of NV necessarily, but I do enjoy Ambient Occlusion and PhysX when they're supported so that's the brand I've been buying.

I really don't get why there are always stupid options to the polls around here. There are only 3 options to the question asked: I like AMD. I like Nvidia. I like both/niether, thus neutral.

Clicking Anti-AMD doesn't make a person Pro-nVidia and vice versa. Do you guys that make these poll feel obligated to put something for all the options?

My own stupidity - I wrote up the poll options before I realized that multiple choice was a possibility, so I over-analyzed and tried to come up with all options that you could choose if you had only one choice.

Then I saw the multiple-choice option, thought that was neat, then didn't go back to fix the choices so it's a bit redundant. When I tried to go back and edit it, I didn't see any way to edit the poll. However, feel free to select redundantly, such as selecting the three boxes for fan of Nvidia, fan of AMD, and fan of both.

Also, I think there might be some people that aren't necessarily a fan of either major brand, perhaps using Intel graphics, but yet they may hate one or the other company for emotional reasons and avoid buying either?

When it comes to video cards amd all the way for me. Though I don't consider myself a fanboy. I won't put down or hate on nvidia, it's just all 3 of my nvidia cards have been crap.

That doesn't mean I won't ever choose them, but for now I stick with what I've had extremely good luck with. If amd ever faulters and make a crap series I will go with nvidia if they're way ahead. I'll just make sure to be very pick on the manufacter+warranty lol.

I cant stand AMD\ATI drivers period, if any work PCs have GPU from AMD, I just use windows drivers rather than CCC....SPOP!

I always use Nvidia cards because I have never had any problems with them and they work just fine for me and I'm comfortable with the brand. I don't think they are far superior to AMD or that AMD makes inferior cards, but like I said I'm comfortable with them.

I used to have nvidia before and I had very little issues. Now I am trying AMD and I haven't had problems with that either. I guess I like them both. I can max my games out and it makes me happy. I think nvidia has a nicer control panel interface but I've actually used the ATI panel more than nvidia.

I've been open to buying an Nvidia card. And for a long time I built my AMD rigs on Nvidia chipsets, but it seems that I can't ever remember actually buying an Nvidia card for one of my gaming cards. X850 pro, 9800 pro, 3870, 4850, 5850, and 7950. All AMD so I guess I am an AMD fan. The only Nvidia card I've ever gotten was the 7300 GS for a HTPC and it turned out to be less than ideal for that. I think the reason I go for the AMD cards is that I just can't understand Nvidia's naming. I have no idea what TI and GT and GS and LE and Core 216 mean. It's the worst naming scheme ever so I just avoid it completely since they both always seem to offer similar performance for the dollar.

I like them both. I'm a video card whore. I buy the top of the line for each brand when they come out and keep the one(s) that seem to work best for me. I could careless about branding.

I dislike Nvidia. Between Jen-Hsun's ego, heavily doctored die shots, and woodscrews, I don't really like them as a company.

But hell hath no fury like each company's fanboys.

My first nVidia card was a Riva TNT 2. Then I had a somewhat crappy 7300le that came with my Dell desktop. I upgraded it to an 8800gt (which I loved). When that died after about 3 years, XFX (lifetime warranty) replaced it with a Radeon 6700 because they didn't make nVidia cards anymore. Granted it was a newer card, but it was about 20% faster, much quieter, and there was a definite improvement in image quality over the 8800. I also liked CCC a lot more than the nVidia control panel.

When I built my new computer I kind of wanted to get another AMD card, but wouldn't have if they didn't do so well in the benchmarks. I went with an XFX DD 7970 (another lifetime warranty) because I managed to get one for $330 on Black Friday

Long story short, I like both companies.

I like both, mostly it's about $/perf to me, so long as there's no major flaws/defects. Though my one AMD card I have right now has behaved really badly with the latest drivers, so I rolled back and it's working okay again. Here's hoping 13.x is better!
