I think lxskllr has made the best arguments against the term 'homophobe' (fear of sameness).

It is interesting to see the homophiles all worked up over nothing. :|

Thanks for unlocking the thread, Dr. Pizza. Now we can have a rational discussion about persistent rational & irrational homosexual notions.

As a misanthrope I hate most people equally.

Yeah, but this thread's potentially about the ones you hate just a little bit more, right?

What the hell happened to this forum. The quality of trolling used to be masterful.

Indifferent. Don't care who or what someone likes to scrump. Not my business.

Disclosure: Brother is gay and happily married (er. . . civil unioned in his state). I like him and his husband, and I get along great with many of his gay friends. There are some I can't stand, but not because they are gay. Rather because they are too damn dramatic.

I'm probably like Margaret Thatcher.

I'm okay if homosexuality is like some checkbox thing in the background.

but groups of them are irritating.

My inner grammar nazi is not a big fan of the term "homophobia."

That said, there are a crap load of words in common use that don't make sense.

Did you know that in the 14th century, the term "nice" was used to refer to something that sucked?

And "sucked" is another one. I mean, are people really thinking about it in terms of oral sex? "My car sucks, dude." "Really? That's awesome! Is that a dealer installed option?"

Blow job vs. Blow chunks. Neither involves exhaling, really.

So it's not a fight worth fighting unless you're trying to distract from something else, imo.

I think I'm a homophone. People say I'm stupid but I have to think that word might have more than one meaning.

Yeah, but gays? Pfft.

Now, people with religious slogans in their signatures, those are something else...

I'm not scared of gay people (what "phobe" normally means) but does not mean I agree with their life decisions. But it's their life, I'm not going to try changing it and it's not like it affects me. I find the word homophobe gets thrown around too much and people don't realize what a phobia actually is.

I do think it's silly how the whole gay thing is now considered the cool thing to do, and everyone wants gay marriage and all that. If you want to be gay, fine, but don't go changing the definition of marriage and stop acting like it's the hip thing to do. Nature did not intend for it to happen or both sexes would have a dick and a vagina.

Which definition are we talking about? I remember back in the good old days when I could just go out and pay for a 13 year old wife, these days you are looked down upon if you even want to bring the subject of buying a girl from her father up in conversation. When we redefined marriage to be between a man and a woman of similar age, I was pissed, then they redefined marriage when they started letting coloured folk marry whites, well we need to stop. Keep marriage the way it was intended, a way for a man to show that a particular woman belongs to him.

Whatever works for you, buddy.

But I firmly support the traditional meaning of marriage, as do my brothers and our wife.

Actually, nature DID 'intend it'. How do you suggest we test for that? What exactly do you think three year olds - by which time it seems orientation is set - do to 'choose' it?

Fact is, you are confusing your opinion with nature. And an ignorant opinion it is.

It has nothing to do with 'cool', any more than it was 'cool' to let women vote or end segregation. It's about equality and rights - your trivial comment shows your childishness.

This I don't feel. Being gay is not cool at all. Knowing people who are gay and conspicuously demonstrating your acceptance of their lifestyle is. I'll take some of that moral superiority action any day of the week, but I'll stay straight thanks very much.

Why is the definition of marriage a sticking point for you anyway? What's the harm in defining it as two people joined together rather than two people of any specific race or sex? I really don't care either way I guess, but if it'll shut the gays up and let us move on to some other pointless argument why not? It just doesn't seem worth fighting over to me.

Marriage shouldn't be a government service, period. What churches do is their own choice, but the government shouldn't be involved. My proposal is bi-corporation, where ANY two people can incorporate as a unit, and get the associated governmental, and civil benefits. Sex doesn't have to be involved. I could bi-corporate with a friend, or a relative. All that denotes is a legal "ownership" over each others affairs, and gets the same benefits traditionally given with marriage.

I tend to think that as long as some dude isn't actively trying to put his penis inside my body without my permission, he's pretty much free to do whatever he likes with his sex life since it doesn't affect me in any way.

I wish Christians would realize that they didn't invent the concept of marriage and the idea that they deserve a monopoly on it is ridiculous. Sort of like most of what they believe.
