I used to switch often. It was difficult for me to find an avatar that I liked on FT. However with vB, I made the switch. Mouse chewing on wires for life.

Except that it's probably the most common avatar here. I like to use mine to locate my own posts as well as identify myself, so I need something unique. I had the mouse chewing the wire about 30 mins after VB came up, but within an hour several others had it too.

On other forums that allow custom avatar/sigs I usually switch mine. Come to think of it I've had the same sig for over a year. I usually add dynamic text to it, confuses people. "zomg how do you show my ip on your sig?"

I never once switched on Fusetalk, and if the old officeguy avatars get readded I'll go back to it.

I rarely switch on other boards - the forum I use most, I've probably had the same av for two years.

I've been Canoworms ever since I joined in march 06. There were a few occasions where I switched (black man avatar revolts, dug777 revolts, etc) but other than that this has always been my avatar. Viva worms!

The majority of the old avatars were FT property, but the ones that were created by mechBgon, plus a couple of others that were publicly available have been brought back over.

Most people stayed pretty consistent with their avatars, and it made it really easy to keep track of the different users. I don't know, for some reason it just made it easier for my brain anyway. There are a lot of posters on here that I don't recognize, but probably would if I saw their familiar FT avatar.

See, you're one of the users whose avatar I can remember pretty vividly, it was unusual. I can't even figure out what the heck your avatar is now.

Anyway, you're probably right. As long as people don't start switching too much, I'll just get used to the new ones.

I have no idea what my current avatar is, but it's distinctive and immediately identifiable as mine, so I'm happy with it

Nope. It's a good thing to be able to associate forum members and their avatars. Changing all the time makes that impossible.
