Dude, I wanna play! I don't like new 3d games, except Unreal Tournament 2003 maybe. Do you guys really play DN3d? Let's do it over the Net, if we can.

#7 was a complete blank for me, first thought that came to my head. $hit I got #1 wrong too (by 40 pixels :| )

You ever Quake2? That's the best FPS 3d shooter out imho - I hate new 3d games too

Yes, really! Finished playing at 11PM tonight. I have a couple maps I made, too

Since HEAT.net went away, I don't know any way to play Duke online....the game only has modem and LAN capabilities built-in.

Do you have the Atomic edition?

Well you're in luck. I'll find it a little later and send it to VBboy if he doesn't have it yet(i do remember passing it on to him), but there's a DN3D proggie which lets you host and join TCP/IP games.

bah, you are not old enough.

What fps game's big selling point was an integrated, "fully functional" programming language built INTO the game.

Hint: You had to access it at special computer terminals, used a DOS wannabe command line, and came with asteroids AND top down shooter mini games already coded for you.

Bonus points if you can give the name of the "programming language"

I don't know Are you talking about Atari or the arcade machines? What was it?!

I missed 7 and 8 because I suck at names.

And bog all the people saying 'Triad' instead of 'Triads', at least remember the name right of one of the greatest games ever!

(3D question: )

10. Wat was the copy protection for Elite?

(2D)

11. What was the first real network shooter? (Bonus question: Which company supplied it for free?)

(1D )

12. What was the first LPMUD called?

(2D)

13. ... Art of War (fill in the missing word)

(3D)

14. What did the first Doom release do to piss off the other people on your network?

(2D)

15. What came first, Frogger or Digger?

I played Castle. There was this castle, and you played as a cute rounded fella who needed to get to the upper floor, avoiding monsters that were flying up and down. You could then swim underwater to the next castle.

I need to download this somewhere.

Can't find the original Castle, but you can still find Omega, Nethack, Moria and Angband.

Those came later, and therefor are far more advanced

(Do download the text versions, the graphical versions were not around back then)

Not compared to the stuff I asked

Edit: Doh, mixed up X-Com with another game, can't remember what that was called (you were walking around with a group of soldiers and had to search for aliens to kill or capture, had to capture their weapons and technology, and had to watch out for their mindcontrol)

I played all of them, but only liked Rebel Assault. Also, there was this game, Extreme Assault, and it had exceptional 3d for its times... You were flying a futuristic helicopter and blastin' away enemies and stuff . It even supported Voodoo!

Hehe

I was only into first-person shooters then (and pretty much still am), and myst wasn't it. Also, Xwing and Xcom were not that genre either, if I remember correctly. If Rebel Assault = Dark Forces, then I liked it. If it's something else, then I didn't

It asked for words from the manual at the start, you couldn't play if you didn't have a copy of the manual too

11. What was the first real network shooter? (Bonus question: Which company supplied it for free?)
Snipes, supplied by Novell with NetWare 3.12

12. What was the first LPMUD called?
Genesis

13. ... Art of War (fill in the missing word)
Ancient

14. What did the first Doom release do to piss off the other people on your network?
It used broadcast to send the packages over the network, so not only other Doom players would get it, but everyone on the network. 8 people playing Doom at the same time would knock down any other network traffic, leaving servers unreachable on a 10Mbit network.

15. What came first, Frogger or Digger?
No idea, both were in 1983

The only one that I missed was #7. I used to love playing PC games back in the days. Rise of the Triad was great...two pistols at once! I almost laughed at the question that asked about playing Duke Nukem 3D with an accellerator. That game ran so smooth on my Pentium 60 with 24MB Ram.
