Not sure if everyone is aware of this but if you are running a Sandisk Extreme SSD with the R201 Firmware your TRIM is not working.
There is a big discussion on Sandisk Forums about how Sandisk is stalling with Firmware to fix it and Users are filing Complaints with BBB & FTC Consumer protection and a Class Action Law Suite may be under way as Sandisk continues to sell these defective Drives to the uninformed Consumer.
If you own one of these Drive it is in you best interest to follow this Topic @ Sandisk Forums.

There are quite a few SandForce based SSDs with firmware 5.0.2 or older that have a broken TRIM.

If Sandisk is smart, they'll realize why several other major companies aren't leaving it to a 3rd party to offer good working firmware like that, even if it means a rocky road and some extra costs.

Now, if Sandisk has no plans to release an update firmware, that's different. But, not doing it without a ton of internal testing would just be smart. In fact, that the issue was allowed to pass their internal testing should have raised some eyebrows.

Either way, it looks like the real problem is typical big corporation behavior: they aren't communicating to end-users using their products. Most of their "customers" aren't end-users, from their PoV.

Guys I hate to say it but SanDisk is not even in the top 5 companies in SSDs

Its one of the cheapest SSDs you can get along with A-DATA .

So this is not surprising. Im sure their firmware team is not as adept as the higher tier SSD makers.

If TRIM is broken there is a command in dos prompt you put and it says if your TRIM is on or NOT. Or you can simply use Crystal and see if TRIM is highlighted out. If it is can you downgrade to when TRIM was working ?

Ive exerience what TRIM can do. Coming from a 512k windows image backup straight onto SSD and off I went. I noticed at times it would go to 235 or 240mbps only to change right back to 260mbps what it should be.

I can make a guarantee that in my case firmware 010G has reduced boot times about 8 seconds. Honestly Ive noticed ever since I have had the SSD with 0309 on it then to 000F then to 010G it just keeps getting faster and faster. A firmware is supposed to do good, not bad. But when you have SanDisk or A-DATA I guess s*** hit the fan. Things will slow down a bit on the SSD and without TRIM its just gonna get slower and slower and youll notice it.

Try to downgrade firmware if not, continue to use it as storage and buy a new SSD from a reputable maker in this field.

In the testing of the Sandisk Extreme Windows shows TRIM enabled, but the fact is enabled does not mean working.
You are correct in your assumption that Sandisk is definitely a Second Tier Company and has no clue how to deal with Customers nor the resources to do so.
What I read on the Sandisk Forums is disgraceful behavior by Sandisk.
I will make a point to stay away from any product manufactured by them.

I purchased a Sandisk 240 GB SSD when Amazon had it for a good price at the end of August. I knew when I bought it about the TRIM issues but after reading the TT article I felt that Sandisk was going to release the updated firmware soon. I waited a few weeks and listened to the chirps of crickets. When buy.com had the Crucial 256 GB M4 for $149.99 a couple of weeks ago I jumped on it and sent the Sandisk back to Amazon.

A solid decision on my part.

Since SanDisk/Toshiba design and manufacture the memory they cannot be compared to ADATA et al even if using a third-party controller for their consumer drives. They have their own controller for enterprise drives.

Even when working, the implementation of TRIM varies. Intel seems to favour active management such that when run manually there is never anything to do. Samsung on the other hand...
