I'll wait to see Vega 10 vs 1070/1080. Not only to see what AMD has to offer, but to see how the cards stack up with Christmas season 2016 games. I'm in no hurry to buy now but probably will before the year is up.

Not buying anytime soon. next upgrade is platform: mobo and CPU and RAM. Because I'm already CPU limited now. It will be Broadwell-e, kaby-lake or zen. But probably kabylake.

Huge assumption there.

Yeah, With a 1080 being 600 already...I just can't see a big die card being 700. Nvidia is obviously wanting to move prices up another notch and the performance jump should be significant to warrant it for the big spenders. I Guess it all depends on Vega's success, they may sit on a 1k+ titan for awhile like the first time if they can get away with it. (vs the quick turnaround time of the 980ti)

Barring diehard fanboys, why would anyone on this forum already have decided about these cards? We know nothing.

With these 1080's being midrange cards priced high, and Vega being only four months away, not much point to do the upgrade dance straight away for me.

Will be interested to see what AMD's advantage with process and memory availability will yield.

Possibly. Might get a 1070 then sell it and upgrade to 1080ti when it comes out. Looking for a single card solution for 1440p 144+Hz.

I'm pretty excited about these cards, but I definitely want to see some benchmarks and actual pricing of non-Founders, AIB cards before making a decision on anything.

In my case it depends on its performance in Octane Render. If the rumors about OCabilty up to 2,4GHz are true and this actually transpires linearly as higher performance in Octane, then i guess i am buying 1080, preferably something like Evga Hybrid.

980Ti scores in OctaneBench 125 points (i assume on stock clocks with default boost). 1080 at 2,4Ghz should theoretically give 2x as much (since it has 2x FP32 performance), if in reality it scores at least 200, then its more or less acceptable. Its more than Titan Z after all.

If i however knew, that GP100/102 based Titan with 3840 cores will come at the end of the year for sure (and not a year from now), i would wait that half year.

Polaris 10 for me unless gp106 presents a considerably better case with price, performance.

Not buying. Waiting for Vega.

Ditto.

There's no way I'm falling for a 1070 or 1080. The pricing is ridiculous and the DX12 performance boost, outside of maybe Tomb Raider, won't be convincing for me. I'm looking at DX12 performance from this point on.

Isn't the 1070 launching at 379.00? I don't understand how that is ridiculous. 970 launched at 330.00 and everybody couldn't believe how low that figure was. He'll, even the ancient 6800GT launched at somewhere near 400.00. 1080 may be off the res with pricing, but 1070 is sweet.

Also, this gentleman has a very good point. What gives?

I have high hopes for polaris. If i can play mah games on 1920x1080 with lot of effects at reasonable framerates (minimum > 40fps), i would be really pleased. But just like anybody else, i will wait for the reviews and the first few driver updates before making any real decision. I might very well end up with the gp106.

I was once planning for a fury nano. But the cost was too high for me. I am not a real enthusiast gamer to justify the purchase of such an expensive card.

I'll buy one 1080, not a reference version (founders). I still want to check launch day reviews and see how it performs in the DX12 games that Maxwell is getting crushed in right now. Anything that uses async compute; Ashes, Hitman etc.

I'd like to make sure nvidia has fixed whatever makes a 980ti so bad at running that feature that it performs like a 390X. I know async doesn't even work on Maxwell and it was supposed to be enabled, I guess that never happened. Pascal should have it working day one. I want good performance in Battlefield 1 and I'm guessing it will use async with its DX12 implementation.

I wouldn't worry too much.

Even back then, a counter argument was easily introduced regarding Maxwell AC capability.

GCN has an advantage over Maxwell right now in this area. We don't know yet if Maxwell ability to handle asynchronous compute loads can't be improved in the driver yet.

Anyway.

Put me down for two cards:
Non-Founders 1080 and non-Founders 1070!

I got my 980 Ti packed up and it's going to it's new home. I might even put the 780 up for sale, see what I can get and just give my nephews the 290X while I wait for Polaris.
