I am still undecided. Not liking the price of Haswell though.

280 dollars for the 4770k at microcenter if you have one close by. They have 40 dollars off mobo too if you do a bundle. I need help picking a bundle if anyone wants to help .
I'm upgrading from a Athlon 64 desktop/Penryn laptop. I think it's about time I got some desktop love again.

They also have discounts off of other parts when you buy the CPU/MB.
eg. I got two 16GB 1866 CL9 kits of Crucial Ballistix Elite for $99.99 each when I picked up my two 4770K + MSI Z87-GD65 combos this afternoon.

I'll be buying Haswell. Haswell-E that is. Whenever it's released.

The mainstream Haswell is a cute attempt though.

Any recommendation on which mobo I should pick? I don't know anything about mobos at all. I'm just trying to game and overclock a little. I'm not even a power user I would say but having a chance at a 4770k 4 cores hyperthreading, I couldn't pass it up.

I don't even see that board offered online.

That memory kit wow that's a lot of ram. 32 GB total of ram damn haha I was so excited just to get 8 gigs last week in my laptop. Baffles me that 4 GB of ram couldn't handle 20+ tabs of google chrome but what can you do!

I should probably just get the 4670k too lol, but the extra 80 dollars, I just finally want to have something that feels "top of the line" even though I know a lot better processors will be out. At least I'll have my first i7. Or my first Desktop intel PC since Pentium 4 or whatever I last had haha before my Athlon 64!

God I've missed out on a lot in PCs lol...

I'm thinking I probably will sooner or later. I've currently got an i7 860, so getting something like a 4770 will be a decent CPU upgrade. My ATI 5950 would definitely benefit the most from an upgrade though, so it just depends on whether I want to replace the whole system or see how long just a new video card would last.

Newegg had a combo which took $28 off the order plus I get free 2 day shipping through shoprunner. Asrock Z87 Extreme 4 and 4770k here I come. Someone got a good deal on my IVB just now.

Almost definitely purchasing a rMBP haswell. Desktop? Not so sure. Desktop Haswell doesn't excite me because of the overclocking, but mobile haswell will be a groundbreaking product.

Or perhaps, since PC makers may produce stuff that ISN'T junk now thanks to Apple pushing display quality with mobile products, I may just get an ultrabook. I would actually prefer an ultrabook in the traditional sense but refuse to do so if PC makers can't make something with quality, especially w.r.t. display resolution. But if status quo cheap garbage low resolution junk remains the case with ultrabooks (as with 2012 ultrabooks) i'll just get the Haswell rMBP refresh.

I guess it's 6 to 5 and pick 'em in your particular price range.
I based my decision on price, aesthetics and prior experience with the brands (I tend to be a Gigabyte, Biostar and MSI man).

The Asus one is so pretty haha. The MSI though says H87 but the one I'm looking at is a Z87 on Microcenter's website. Of course a google result doesn't pull that up. Between those 2, and the ASRock on MIcrocenter's website (Which I think is too much), I guess I'm going with the MSI. I just wish I could find some information first.

Uhm, the link I posted covers the entire range of x87 mobos. Of course, we're only interested with the Z87 ones atm

Nope, not buying Haswell as it is, IMHO, more geared towards laptops and such. My 3770k and 2600k are running just fine at 4.5 Ghz and 4.2 Ghz, respectively. I see no reason to upgrade at this point in time.

You bet! Even though it's insanely faster than my Core i5-750, I'm not in the market for a desktop anymore. I'm looking for a tablet convertible.

Is this deal only offered to certain customers? I'm considering an Extreme6, but I wouldn't mind some money off the top.

No. My 2600k at 4.5GHz is plenty fast and I hate 90% of the laptops that exist out there right now with their 90's era 768 pixel high screens.

I'll be getting in a Thinkpad when they become available.

I'm probably going to hold on to my 3570k until Broadwell's successor, though.

my i7-930 will like to see this haswell upgrade... I'll probably dump my case, and my mobo + CPU + Memory with it too... and the CoolIT closed loop set.

I want usb 3.0 up front, and sadly, as much as I love my Silverstone TJ10, no USB 3.0 = no good for me!
