2600k will continue to be my main rig... haswell and INTEL are a dissapointment.

Why can't they make one new die by deleting the IGPU and making a 6-8core haswell.
No good reason.

For desktops, maybe a Haswell Celeron...
I already have one 3770K rig and I'll either get a Celeron or APU to replace my current G550 Celeron "water-treader" system.

Personally, I find myself much more interested in what AMD will release next.
I made the decision to move to the AMD upgrade path, so i'll just wait untill AMD releases something that is definitively better than my current FM1 system (likely more desktop/workstation oriented).

I got no problem skipping sandy/ivy/haswell in one fell swoop

Reviews are popping up and you've seen some overclocks. I'm wondering if you'll upgrade or skip this all together since it doesn't have that big of a IPC increase.

Poll will follow

Well, it has a nearly 100% IPC increase over my Phenom II..so yes.

No reason, IMO, for those on Sandy/Ivy to upgrade for the desktop.

I will wait for user overclocking results. Haven't seen a satisfying OC review yet. I've read several but still feel like I know nothing about Haswell OC behavior.

I have a 2600k@4.5GHZ

Tempted to trade my current MB+CPU to the Haswell 4770k but:-

1. Worried that the current MB's have the USB 3.0 sleep issue
(Want these cleared out)
2. If really bugs me that Intel removed the TSX feature from the K processors
I'm a software developer who does C++ multi-threaded programming.
Performance is important for fast compiles, debugging etc.

20% improvement + TSX would have been an easy decision for me to upgrade.
The just 20% makes me want to wait to see if 2014 14nm refresh changes things on the TSX front; since I will need TSX at some point moving forward.

I'll probably end up passing on Haswell as a result.........

The thermals, lack of extensions and OC headroom killed it for me. Decent bump in IPC, I think it bodes well for Haswell-E, which is my target. I will monitor the delidders and see what they can achieve before I close the door completely.

Yes, want to move on from my i5-750. Especially get some proper sata3 going. Probably order next month after I move and get settled, should let the price get right and give me time to choose a mobo.

Considering Intel is supposed to be 'competing against themselves' and convincing me to upgrade my existing Intel CPU, they are not doing a good job of it.

Bought my SB-E years ago and still nothing has been released that is an upgrade for it. IB-E is coming at some point and will literally mean a 5% performance increase, and the same, or quite possibly even worse overclocking headroom.

I have a system with an E6400 in it I have to upgrade and thought I would get a Haswell for. I don't need cores, just IPC for the machine so I want as big an overclock as possible. If I get a Haswell I have a chance of not even hitting 4.5 and 4.5 being the most likely speed I do get, along with needing a decent cooler to boot ( I have an OK aftermarket cooler but nothing great) So I figure I will just get a 2500K known to be good for 4.8 and a mobo and be done with it.

It's not even a matter of money, they are just not releasing anything that makes me want to spend money on it. It's like they don't want my money Unbelievable.

 My wish list for my next notebook.

GT3 or GT3e graphics
under 4 pounds
no ODD
room for 7mm 2.5" drive + mSATA/NGFF
higher resolution than 1366x768
decent battery life
affordable (can mean $500 or $1000, depending on my budget at the time)
Getting a good quality screen will be the biggest challenge

No need for me, it'd be a sidegrade & i dont have the time for sidegrades. Overclocking was a dissapointment too for haswell. This Thing is clearly designed for mobile.

On a side note, am i the only one that maxed out their SB 2500k @ 4.5ghz? It just wont go beyond that no matter what. Is it my mobo?

Yes, definitely. My Q9650 is a little long in the tooth. Getting Haswell for the power efficiency just as much as the IPC improvement.

I'm not buying right off. My cell contract just ended and my Droid X2 is getting insufferable, so the replacement comes first. I do have my build wishlisted, though. If I somehow manage to go to Microcenter, I might jump for a 4770K (being just a $30 premium over a NE 4670K). A friend wants to buy my old hardware as well, should cut the overall system cost in half.

I've recently moved to a different country for work and need to put together a new home computer/HTPC, so I'll be getting a 4770 or 4670. Probably get an Asus motherboard with an Intel NIC.

I just bought a 4670K and a Gigabyte UD4H today from my local Microcenter, upgrading from a Phenom II X4 970. I got a Swiftech H220 so I can hopefully overclock reasonably. I just got it all set up and haven't gotten to the overclocking yet.

No.

Sticking with what I had in mind before Haswell's release. The A10 on desktop, A8 or A10 on mobile. Not to mention Intel's CPU naming structure is just abysmal.
I'd consider Haswell on mobile if the price is right though, it's got to be cheap such as the prices on the i3's today.
Happy with my current rigs but Waiting For Kaveri. I want the best APU graphics possible, even if it's for a backup. Haswell was a major disappointment for me.
Add in Haswell's USB 3.0 bug and it's dead in the water.

AMD is simply where the excitement is anymore thanks to their APUs.

Assuming I have the money, and that is a BIG "if" given my situation...possibly.
I want to make a tiny mITX machine, and the 4770T looks good for that, but something is telling me to wait for Broadwell.

In all honesty, I think Intel has (and AMD soon will) hit a wall when it comes to how much performance you can eke out of a single x86 core; I expect Broadwell will be about as powerful in terms of IPC, possibly clocked just a little higher, and have a lower TDP; I am guessing the Broadwell equivalent of the 4770T, call it 5770T, will be about as powerful as the 4770S and have a 35-45W TDP.

The focus is on mobile, and it shows. 4702HQ would be my choice for a mobile machine, since it has a 35W TDP and therefore can fit in 12-14" machines. My dream laptop would have:

Core i7-4702HQ
2x 8GB DDR3-1600L
256 GB SSD
13.3" 1600x900 or 14" 1920x1080 screen

And would have a good keyboard with full-size arrow keys like the Asus U46/48 or Q400 series, and be made of metal or have a Thinkpad construction.

I see no reason to upgrade from my OC'd 920 apart from the power consumption, so bleh...

Looks like I'll be hanging onto this chip until Skylake (2015). 6 year CPU cycle

Intel should have included a 6 core part in the Haswell lineup, I would've been all over that.
