I have a question, why do people not join distributed computing projects? You accomplish somehting, you keep the processor at 100% load and therefore prevent wareout. So anyway, can people give reasons not to join? The reasons to join distribued computing projects are as follows: Prizes (RC5 in particular), Community, Statistics, etc..

Mentally yes, on my computer I haven't reinstalled the client since my wipe.

Windows itself runs crud processes so that the CPU is under full load (unless various energy saving programs are in use), <<you're on crack >> Is that worth a response? It doesnt take to much time to set up most of the programs, you just download a client, and start it running.

Windows does not run anything that uses up the processors extra clock cycles. It has a system idle process, but as far as I know that just pretty much tells the processor not to do any work. RC5 is using clock cycles that would otherwise go to waste, therefore there is some excess heat produced by RC5. You might have good intentions posting a crack thread, but you don't want to lie to these people and make them think you are tricking them into cracking

I've been running RC5 for two years. I recently started to look for ET as well. Looking at the stat tally is fun. The encouragement from your team is more than enough to make you do your best to ourperform your best day ever!

Also I use the program on computers I build to quick test the cooling system. It lets me know that cooling is fine and will be strong enough to handle heavy use.

I'm cracking! I don't see why people dont. I mean it just uses cycles that you arn't using. When you need them it lets you use them so it's not doing any harm really IMHO.

I do RC5 for tacube. Just started it after moving from seti(Better then seti b/c seti did not take 100% of my dual, only 50% of each which is really only 50%)

People don't do it b/c it has no benefit to them. What difference does it make to me if I run it or not? I usually use some processor intensive thing for burn ins but other then that I usually don't keep it running on machines. And I am lazy too.

I've been Mooing for 2 years now. I let the client run 24/7 on 3 comps. It runs during games and has never caused a problem.
