Then in December I also hit up Denver, LA and LV and in Jan going to a city in Canada for a few days. Now that is some busy busy right there!

I have a backlog to blow up.

I'd do a live feed of my sessions, but as Id be 100%ing RPGs it could get quite tedious and boring to watch. Doubt anyone wants to watch me run around in circles for 12 hours until I'm 99 in a Tales game. Even I have to mute the volume after the first hour

Ya wife and I work at same company now which is why we planned all these, and we get all that time off in Nov, Dec and Jan together. All the trips are on company holidays.

Heh I have 8 weeks of paid vacation I can use whenever. I get 5 weeks a year and they rollover to the following year if we don't use them so they add up. I just never seem to catch up enough to use them a whole lot.

Wish mine did roll over. I can only roll over a week but had some things come up where I also took off the 20th to help out my family with something. When I do use them I do like to catch up on my gaming. But I wouldnt want to finish all the games for the new system in a day or two then it would be boring.

I have to take them a day at a time cause I can not really ever get ahead enough for a whole week. I'd love to just have a free week and get paid for it.

Normally I sell a few weeks to do some extraholiday shopping every year and pay the yearly property taxes which just seem to keep going up and up.

Yeah ours are all paid days. I started with around 18. I rarely take vacation so I wish I could sell mine but we can't do that. It's been a while since I took a day off and played what I wanted or just relaxed. So I'll be doing that Friday next week. Was going to do that the whole weekend but a friend of mine who is a valet is having some special event on Saturday so I'll go help him out and make enough tips to buy another game

Was planning on using tax return money for one of them next year, then do the same the following year with tax money....

But for me I've seen very little to justify either purchase right now... the
Collector in me wants them NOW, the wallet and my current tastes in games says otherwise... (Glances at my dusty PS3 and 360..ugh)...

I've been looking more into what titles are coming out over the next year or so and there really isn't anything to justify a new console right now. If I didn't have a gaming PC I would probably be chomping at the bit for new hardware, but right now I can run game at or above the level of next gen consoles.

I'd be like that if I didn't want Killzone, Forza 5, Killer Instinct, and a NBA 2k14 that isn't ported from PS3 and 360.

I'm the same, Forza is actually the only launch title for either console I have the tiniest interest in, but it's not worth that much of an investment for me. Hah, I'd probably pay someone NOT to make me play most of those titles if I was somehow forced to sit through them.

I'll probably wait a year or two before considering either to be honest.

I might not even buy another console. My Wii and Xbox 360 both crapped out on me, leaving the PS3 the sole survivor of the bunch.

I'm sure I'll eventually grab "The last of us", but beyond that I'll probably just play whatever comes out on the PC, and maybe an occasional PS3 game until it dies as well..

Next year Christmas at the earliest.

For one, funds are tight right now - I've just bought a new apartment, and need the money for new furniture, etc etc. Second, the XBox One is not available in South Africa this year even if I did want to buy one (the PS4 is). Third, I want to wait at least a year for all of the issues to be ironed out (guaranteed there will be a few), and by late next year, there will be much better specials for games.

And by then there will be a much better selection of games - for me, its the games that are important, not really the console itself. The only thing making me lean slightly towards the Xbox is Forza, but I'm a little disappointed that it only has 200 cars. So, I might just wait until Forza 6.

Waiting, no need to get one at launch.

I probably will get a PS4 because I don't plan to play MP but can't use anything except SP games on the X1 without paying $60 a year.

If on the chance I do get an X1, it will be after they
1) offer a Kinectless SKU (they say they never will but I bet money they will)
2) slim the system. How the hell can the PS4 be so small and the X1 which packs less power and has an external power brick be so damn big?

nah... I'll get one when there's a must-play game released. no real benefit to getting one sooner for me; I figure the longer I wait, the more bugs that'll be worked out and potentially the cheaper they'll be.

Not for at least 3-4 weeks. Both consoles may be susceptible to manufacturing defects that may not surface right away.

I'm a Forza fan so I wouldn't mind stepping up to Forza 5, but after buying BlackOps Ghosts, I find myself asking if the advertised super duper upgraded graphics of the next gen Xbox One are really worth the investment in a whole new system if the gameplay is basically the same as the 360. The problem ridden Battlefield 4 rollout for Xbox 360 has me wondering if it is a preview of things to come with an entirely new system. An incident with the COD Ghosts game, needing a complete day of frustrating emails and phone calls to Activision and Microsoft support reminded me of how wonderful it is to deal with these people; they don't seem to have a lot of respect for their customers.
I also have a lingering doubt about internet connection speed and the quality of gameplay with the Xbox. I live in a rural area and the best I can do as far as internet speed is 3Mbps/3Mbps, maybe a bit faster at times, but it always seems like I am playing a half second behind most people. In COD, I can shoot somebody a half dozen times but I get killed with one or two shots. Watching the replay, I can see that often my weapon is not even firing at all. Forza has some funky online stuff where cars fly through the air, travel underground and "time warp". Won't the improved graphics and more sophisticated gaming of the new consoles require even more bandwidth?
These things are keeping me from jumping on a new next-gen console. The way I look at it, I can always buy one at a later date after I see how things go and the price inevitably comes down.

So I'm a terrible hypocrite. Had full intentions of waiting until March or April of next year to pick up a PS4 when I went to bed last night. Woke up this morning and furiously started checking stock. My fiancee managed to find me one at target, and she's going to drop it off at my work later on today.

There's really no excuse other than I wanted to be a day one adopter. Guess Killzone and Resogun it is!
