I dont think you will have a choice.

You may need to carry your vaccination card with your DL to board a flight or travel outside the US.

With some hesitation, yes. Bit worried about the long-term side-effects given my personal health history. But I'm also in a risk category for, you know, dying from the coronavirus because of asthma, so probably yeah lol. Definitely not anti-vax, just nervous about the unknown future side effects. But medicine has gotten better over the years.

I voted yes, but I probably won't get it right away, I want to give it a bit of time to make sure there's no issues they find out after. Though I hear it will be mandatory in Ontario to pretty much do anything like buy groceries so may not have a choice so may have to do it sooner rather than later. I'm fairly confident it will be safe but still rather be safe than sorry.

The big push for liability shield revolves around suing your own employer as-if to say your employer is responsible for YOU getting covid.

I honestly never thought of it from the perspective of vaccines, and I honestly don't even think that is the target of the liability shield...

I was referring to the vaccine side-effect liability shields the drug companies are lobbying hard for in the UK, the EU, and potentially here.

By the time it's available, I'll probably already have gotten it, if I haven't already(strange feelings last fall).

(Because I have to go to the store eventually.)

I was feeling really weird last fall and like the energy was totally sucked out of me. I probably should get an antibody test to see if those symptoms were caused by COVID.

Wanting to lay down for two weeks straight is not normal......I could function sitting at a computer...but my stamina for any physical activity was shorter than usual.

Most people would treat the vaccine as a license to be reckless. I would not since part of being responsible is not being part of the chain. 5% non-efficacy is not insignificant out of a population of millions, and COVID kills by sheer volume of cases, not by high percentages. The public sector only cares enough to make sure hospitals are not overwhelmed; once that infrastructural problem is fixed, a few more dead old and infirm is of insignificance to them.

I would be more concerned about all the shit they're discovering from having COVID-19 infections.
It's not just a respiratory disease. It seems to also be a circulatory disease and that means it's getting
passed to all your organs. We've already heard about clots and strokes and neurological issues.
So much we don't know still on other illnesses resulting from a COVID-19 infection.

Google long haulers.
These are people that have had it, recovered and are still messed up.

I think the vaccine is a small issue in the bigger picture.
I would take one tomorrow if it was available.

For those that don't feel safe, what about antibody tests 1st? No idea if that's in the apples to apples category.

I was telling this wife this morning over breakfast that I had this crazy thought about how the front line workers are getting the vaccine first and it would be ironic if 28 days later they all turned into zombies.

Even before voting in the poll, I estimated that between 10 and 15% of respondents would say "no".

Lo and behold, the actual percentage is around 13.

Some things never change about humanity, no matter how smart (we think) we get....

And how sure are we of this?

Would it even surprise you a little bit if we found out good old Mitch had this in mind all along?

At least 50% of the current "no" is the ATOT wise-ass factor!

Again. I'm not talking about the stimulus bill and I am not aware of if it has vaccine related stipulations for the liability shield.

I am referring to the drug companies lobbying insanely hard to get liability shields for the vaccine.

On one hand you can say "well given the current nature of the issue it's understandable they want extra protection due to the accelerated nature of the vaccines" but on the other hand there is plenty of evidence drug companies have deliberately concealed side effects of drugs to get them through testing before.

There is a reason VAERS exists. No matter how safe we believe a vaccine to be or how long we've given it there are always adverse reactions possible. The entire point of VAERS is to collect long term data of adverse reactions that are too rare, circumstantial, or took too long to appear to be found during clinical trials.

Of course someone has to be first in order to discover the safety of the vaccine. But due to my chronic medical conditions I refuse to be one of them.

I will wait at least 3-6 months to see more data collected.

I was referring to both.

My concern re: liability, the vaccine and the stimulus bill involves the possibility that many companies will require being vaccinated in order to return to work and then not be liable for any negative side-effects.

Absolutely. When it gets round to me - I'm not really high-priority. My elderly mother will probably get it long before me.

I'm hoping it will have unexpected effects, i.e. give me super-powers. Perhaps I shall become PangolinBoy. With armoured scales and the ability to roll into a protective ball.
