Just ordered my SliverStone TJ06, good thread here for ides on keeping the cabling tidy. Bit worried about ATX power from PSU to Mobo though. May have to get extensions somewhere, will post pic's when finished.

idiotekniQues, berny9ii:

I just got my p180 and I am waiting for my Corsair HX620 to arrive so I can start building, but I want to try to plan ahead for the cable management, which sounds like the most challenging aspect of this case.

I have an Asus P5B MoBo which uses the 8 pin EPS12V auxiliary power connector... at the very top of the case towards the rear, as far as you can get from the PSU in the p180  . After reading all the posts here I am somewhat concerned about the auxiliary power cable not reaching the connector at the top of the MoBo. idiotekniQues, I see you ran yours over the GPU, and it SEEMS like there some (very little) slack left. Do you think the cable is long enough to run it under the mobo?

berny9ii, I couldn't see your auxiliary power cable. Did you run it under the mobo, or is your connector NOT at the top of your MoBo?

Thanks!

EDIT: going back to the original question of "are you happy with the case", I haven't finished building but right off the bat, I have a minor complaint: the case is designed to be silent, yet the fans that come with it do not have the 3 pin connectors that would allow them to be connected to a controller (or to a MoBo) to make the system even more silent by running the fans at low unless a higher speed is needed. I know Antec's tricool retail fans have the connector, so it would cost antec probably just a few cents (or a couple of dollars, at most) to provide those fans with the case.

I complicated my install by putting sound insulation all around the inside of the case and modded the top cdrom holders as I wasn't using them but it works nicely, and is so quiet. Airflow must be pretty good as despite having o/c core 2 duo and 7900GTO none of the fans ever need run above their min speeds (about 750rpm) - fan speed set to ramp up when cpu hits 43 degrees.

i cut a slot on the motherboard tray so its running inbetween the side panel and the mbtray. It was plenty long enough.

Thanks! will try running it behind the MoBo tray as you did. Good to know the cable is long enough!

you can do that, or what i did is buy a 5 dollar cable extension, and now that cable runs up the side and around the fan, completely out of the way.

when i get around to it i am going to whip out my dremel and make it a p182

What sort of heatsinks are you guys using in your p180s? I've got a Big Typhoon but I don't think it has enough clearance on the side for maximum airflow. I think that maybe a sythe infinity or ninja might be better?

As far as wires go, I had to really sit down and fiddle with my p180 for about three solid hours to get the wires down without dremel work on it. Zipties and creative working through the back is the key. My PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 was a hell of a thing to fit in there, but it does fit if you work on it. So sit down and really think it out; you can make it work.

After replacing both side panels and front door it is getting a little better.

I Dremeled the fan holder in the lower chamber to allow psu wires to run along the bottom on either side. I also removed the top of the metal"frame" in front of the lower hdd rack. This allowed me to stick a YL fan in there. I them added a Sunbeam Rheobus fan controller to control that fan as well as another YL in the upper hdd cage.

i find the lower fan keeps 3 hard drives in the bottom just dandy.

i also found that an intake fan in the front did nothing for my temps.

i think any more than 3 fans + your heatsink fan and you are just adding noise

Without modding this case is a POS IMHO. I had one temps sucked balls, i got an x-qpack and temps were far superior. Nice work none the less, i will have to mod up my old P-180 for my bro.

its not the cases fault - u messed up something or something else in your setup was faulty.

i have seen more than enough users of the p180 with good temps. and no case mods.

i cant reach 60c load measured via TAT with a b2 stepping e6400 at 3.2ghz. id say that is pretty good. i havent touched the case with a dremel or anything. i just mounted my ninja with a tt bolt thru kit cause i hated those stupid plastic clips.

it takes an extra hour to get the wiring neat, helping airflow and keeping it clean.

FWIW - and its not much - I really like the case. System not assembled yet, and its my first build, but I like the sturdiness, pull out HD cages, separate chambers, front FW and audio, etc...not to mention the sleek black look. It appears I will be dremeling a bit (I have no qualms about doing so...it'll be fun). I appreciate many of the photos posted in this and other threads showing solid cable management. I've downloaded many for future reference...thanks dudes!

I have a dremel - I'd like to use it - I can't help it. Kinda like a weed wacker .

Gathered so far:
Antec P180
XFX 7900 GS Extreme, factory OCed

Still to come, but subject to change:
E6420 (April)
MSI 650i Platinum (unless Gigabyte knocks my socks off with a 650i option)
OCZ GameXstream 600w
OCZ Platinum Rev 2 2x1 GB DDR2 800 (the 1 item I change my mind on daily)
LiteOn 20x DVD+R w/LS
Sceptre 20" widescreen LCD
Thermalright Ultra 120 or Scythe Ninja Rev B (if it fits mobo)
