are you hoarding waste oil?

im not sure why, but i have about ~60 qts right now, and im keeping it
going to get me a 100gal drum and just keep it.

why give back your spent 5 qts of oil for free?

who knows...all i know is you pay 15-$25 for it, and they "take care of it" for you.
why give them the oil back? if they want it back they can either buy it back or i'll keep all my black gold.

I "hoarded it" for several years mostly because I was too lazy to take it to the recycling center. Now I'm moving, and I've found that it's a pain to get rid of 15 gallons of oil when the recycling center only takes 2 gallons and they have hazardous waste days once every two months.

Aren't gas stations supposed to take it back too? I have a lot of waste oil to get rid of too. I am not hoarding it either.

get yourself a huge drum and throw it in the shed.

I carry a big vat of oil with me at all times. Any time someone comes to me with a complaint, I dump it on their head. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

On the plus side, I don't have to listen to very many complaints any more.

I think places that sell oil are supposed to take it. But I figure they must have to pay to have the oil taken away, and I feel bad taking my used oil to a place when I didn't buy it from there in the first place (I buy it direct from AMSOIL). I took 4 gallons to Autozone, then bought some stuff I needed to kind of compensate them.

I was talking to my buddy, and the oil change place at Walmart took something like 6 gallons from him all at once.

hmm. this piques my curiosity. what exactly is done with waste oil? can it be recycled? lots of stuff is made from petroleum derivatives so lots of potential to be recycled... how badly does oil decompose after 3k to 15k miles of use? i know it collects a lot of metal, and i know over very long periods of time it can become acidic...

it can be burned in a waste oil furnace for starters
