nope, I live very comfortably but I don't lust for more or feel like I can't buy what I want to buy when I want to.

Good for you! Did you pick up a nice hottie to take home? You should post pics in the babe thread.

eh, the ladies don't want a guy like me. not when there are plenty of other single guys who are better looking, more socially adept, or more wealthy. all they gotta do is look around and they are sure to find a better option.

i'm OK with that though, cuz if i had one then tonight would have cost 200$

Nah, you just need some confidence. And one of the best parts of pickups from events is that they've already had "dinner and dancing", you didn't have to pay for that, now it's just the take them home part.

As much as I hate to say this, and without answering to any specific person in this thread, I'm going to have to say "You only live once".

Learn to balance between tomorrow, and today. What's the point of living if you save everything for tomorrow, and when tomorrow comes, you can't enjoy anything because you spent all your time working to save up.

I work to live, not the other way around.

The only honest person on ATOT. Where'd you come up with $200? My wife costs me $27.19 a day by my calculations.

sometimes i wish i could let myself have a crazy year where i take the 20$k+ additional money that i save over and above max 401k/roth ira, and just spend it on an amazing vacation, monthly tickets to the orchestra, visits to awesome restaurants, movies, and whatever else.

just one year.

Don't live life like that. What if tomorrow some idiot kills you on the drive to work. You'll have experienced no fun in life only to have died young.

The chances of that happening are so low though. It's better to play to the odds.

i think for being 29 my wife and i saved a good amount of money for our age. I want to splurge and buy a new car now and while i can afford it id feel really bad spending that kind of cash on a car right now. the only thing wrong w/ my 8 year old honda is it's becoming a rustbucket.

We have 3 15 year old cars with TONS of miles each (100k, 140k and 160k), no garage, no rust. I'm further up north from you too.

Weird

What if we all die tomorrow?

Live like there is no tomorrow, just remember, 99.999999999% of the time, tomorrow WILL be here.

I've had so many paint issues with my car it's not even funny. Never garaged but i take great care of the paint. wash religiously and wax pretty often too. panels are great, it's the plastic bumpers that have clear coat delaminating on them. Rear wheel well is rusting from the inside. I can't even sandblast it off and put a rust stopper like POR15 on it because there's no way for me to get in it. I have 130K miles on it right now.

Wife's lexus is also from 2007, 100k miles no paint issues.

Going to take it to a body shop and get a price them cutting it out and replacing it. It may not be worth it if it's too much money. I may just trade it in for the new lexus i've been eyeing up!

just wasted 100$ attending an orchestra concert - it was awesome!

maybe i'll let myself do it once every few years.

glad you went bro!

Dont look at is as wasting money. You invested in your happiness. You need to do this for yourself more man!

That might be your problem. By washing and waxing too much you are washing/waxing layers away from your paint.

That's weird for a Honda. BTW, 2 of my cars are Mazda's from an era of POOR Mazda rust proofing.

As far are replacement, it's your call how important it is to "look pretty" to others and have pretty paint on your car. Not something that concerns me even one bit. But that's just me.

Not obsessed at all with money. I live in a small town (< 2k people) in WI and the richest people around here are the farmers and small business owners. Most people don't care about money, people don't judge, and there is no "keeping up with the Joneses". I make a decent salary and my wife does well also. We live comfortably and have everything we need. Money is just not important in our life or community.
God bless America, this sounds like life as it should be lived.

Country roads, take me home, to the land I belong, ... :whiste: Hey, I'm serious. I'm not being snarky or satirical.

I'm so jealous of him!

One day, one day. Mind you I go by all of the above/what he wrote, but I'm in more of a metropolitan area with whole bunch of money chasers and your typical "keeping up with the jonses'" types.

I'm already a king based on my standards/where I come from. I'm happy and live comfortably. Have plenty of time to spend with my loved ones and things are great.

I just wish I was far away from money chasers/that type of civilization...FAR FAR away.

Depends on your standards, I'm from Europe so yes it is.

In US it might not be, I understand. But still, when it comes to rust, age is more relevant than actual mileage.

i have 300k miles on my old car, and 50k on my new one i bought 2 years ago

yeah, i dont wax my car that much. and the place it's rusting from is from inside the wheel well on the inner panel. Waiting to see what the Honda regional rep says.
