it's the typical rule. it doesn't apply in every case. this rule is also exclusive for americans... i don't think it applies to other countries.

On my mom's side, my grandfather was 6'1 .... but on my dad's side, my grandfather is about 5'8...

dads 6'6, im 6'2, moms 5'10. My dad is pretty tall compared to the rest of his family, I am taller then all in my dads family. My older brother is 5'10, so I laugh at him because he is shorter then me

someone told me once that my real dad was 6'4''. Mom is about 5'8. I'm right at 6'1'' and pretty much look just like the pics of him except I'm a few inches shorter

Not sure what happened, I didn't start smoking until my growth spurt was over! =)


I have 1 brother who sort of looks like me (you can tell we are brothers) we are exact same height but my frame is much larger, He last weighed in at 135 and I weighed in at 190 when we did Wii Fit

He looks better then me too =(

Oddly enough, I'm stuck in the middle of my parents - my Dad is 6'4" and my Mom is 5'2". What's worse is my Dad remarried and my step mom is 6' even. Even being 5'10", I'm the shortest in my family.

As far as the thread is concerned, I'm taller than my mom and the same as my dad.

To some who said that an inch doesn't make any difference anyway, then she can say she's 5'2 if that what makes her feel good ^^ Why such a big fuss on whether shes 5'1, 5'2, or 5'3. NOw if some1 said she's 5'7, then its really impossible. But a 5'1 can pass for a 5'2 or even almost 5'3 if they have good posture and nicely proportioned? my mom's father was also 6'4" when he was younger, though at 85 years old he's not that tall anymore...
