So went to my local Taco Bell cuz I was just craving it for the first time in a while. Tried ordering my usual a grilled chicken burrito and a meximelt. Guy behind counter says $7.79, I assume an innocent error and say I only ordered two items.

He goes yes it's correct the xxxxxllxxlll super grilled stuff chicken burrito is $4.89 D:
I said just a grilled chicken burrito it says on the menu it's $2.79.
His response, well that's wrong we don't make that anymore.
My response I just want the grilled chicken burrito please fix my order and correct my price or get your manager.
So manager comes by, I explain myself again. Manager offers to give me the correct burrito and 50cents off for my trouble so it's only $7.29.
I tell him to please give me the correct burrito at the correct price of $2.79.
He says I already did sir.
At that point I said thanks but no thanks and walked away without paying and without my food.

Manager even had the balls to yell that I couldn't leave without paying.

My only thought now is WHAT THE FUCK. Talk about some shady shit. I went home and pulled up the tacobell corporate menu and I'm not crazy, a plain grilled chicken burrito is on the menu.

So Taco Bell are you that hard up on money that you need to upcharge and lie to your customers?? What bullshit

That's alright; I went to a Taco Bell/KFC combo a while back and they were out of beef. I asked for a Spicy Big Crunch and it was discontinued. I went again a couple days ago and they were out of lettuce, so my soft taco was cheese and beef...

Not sure what was going on for you there, but franchise (non-corporate owned) stores are free to offer/not offer whatever they wish from the corporate menu, not participate in any promotions they don't chose to, and generally charge what they want/more for any item at their discretion.

I was in a Subway once and they had a poster on the wall showing the options for $5 subs. I ordered an Italian BMT (which was on the poster), but was told at checkout that this location wasn't offering the $5 sub deal for the Italian BMT (they had a smaller handwritten list of about 3 sandwiches taped under the menu). I ended up paying $7 for my sandwich just because I was hungry and I'm guessing I wasn't the only person to do so. However, I bet they didn't have a lot of repeat customers.

I realize this, however when it's clearly listed on their menu in store, thats kinda bullshit.

I went to the grocery store near my house to buy some bacon and the cheapest package I could find was almost $9.

Shit gets expensive when you slant the system to allow every shmo sitting behind a desk to take a cut.

I feel like you're more hard up for money than Taco Bell since you posted a rant about this.

And for what it's worth, you really missed out on the XXL Grilled burrito. Those things are delicious. They have guacamole in them.

i do not undersatnd how some businesses run.

My gf went to Breuggers Gabel to get egg white on toast. They told he they ran out of egg white. This was at 10 AM. How does a place that advertises egg white on a bagel run out of egg white? Are they that unprepapred?

My local TB sucks. I apparently have one of the "non-participating locations" for all the national advertised deals. I've missed out on the 89 cent crunch wraps, the 99 cent double deckers, and now the currently advertised 99 cent burrito supreme. Not only do they not honor the national deals, but their regular prices are higher than any other TB I've been to.

I like TB, but I refuse to give these local assholes my business, so I only get to enjoy the food when I am out of town.

Maybe it was just a lot busier that morning than expected. The pizza shop I (occasionall) work at runs out of pizza every once in a while. Customers are often confused by this, so we have to explain to them that we make fresh dough every day; it takes at least 2 hours after we start making the dough before it's ready to be made into a pizza (with a lot of extra effort to rush it out in 2 hours; 3 hours is more realistic.) And, that requires an extra employee to come in; one of the few who know how to make the dough, as if we're that busy that we run out, no one has the spare time to make the dough. But, generally, by the time we realize that we're going to run out of dough, it's too late - if we don't figure it out by 6:00 - it's too late to bother.

the key to taco bell is never order anything that costs more than $.99. the stuff that costs $3 is just 2 of the things that cost $.99 mixed in a different way.

Enjoy.

The store I'm talking about is a Jewel with notoriously high prices, but it's still way higher anywhere here than it used to be.

every so often, i'll get one of those xxl burritos. i get the steak one, no beans, no rice, easy on the sour cream and guac. pretty good.

they now have a triple steak burrito which i tried last night... it's got steak, rice, cheese, and some fire roasted sauce. pretty good as well.

LOL, I've noticed that too...

If TB would carry diet MTN Dew, I'd be in heaven.

Here in LA, I'm excited as he'll if the person taking orders speaks even a little English, I had to learn how to say "iced tea, no sugar" in flipping Spanish so I can get the right thing.

One time they gave me sweet tea and a handful of artificial sweetener, I didn't realize it was sweet tea and threw in 3 packets of sweetener, holy crap, it tasted bad....
