I tuned in the last few minutes to see what the hype was about. Wow, that was painful to watch. I don't know how they won 90 games. The other teams must be really bad or something because UConn was beyond terrible.
No set offensive plays, no hustle, no fundamentals, no drive to win, no anything. Their best player looked disengaged and didn't seem to care about winning or losing. She took a long 3 that grazed the front rim and then just stood there admiring while the other team's center ran past her for an uncontested breakaway layup.
Then, later with a couple minutes left and them down by maybe 6-8 points so plenty of time. The coach is yelling at them in the timeout to stop taking 3s and to drive to the basket and draw a foul. What does their best player do? *Immediately* on the inbounds pass, she takes a fadeaway, contested 3 that misses badly. Wtf.
That lack of discipline along with basic stuff, like the numerous traveling violations and I can see why no one really cares that much about women's college basketball.
The only "sport" where men and women compete is dressage. It's just genetics that the top males are stronger/faster/etc than females and there's not much you can really do about it.
Females just don't play chess, which is why there are no female grandmasters. Mentally, the genders are pretty equal if both sides care about it. You see pretty equal contributions in the music/arts/literature/spelling bee/texting fields but those aren't really sports.
