did it ever work? Did it just quit working one day? Are the charging lights working correctly on the transmitter?

Check your transmitter batteries. If you're using rechargeables, try alkalines. Though i've never had a problem with NiMH rechargeable batteries with mine, some planes seem to prefer alkalines.

no it never worked.

i went ahead and took the thing back to wally world. the lady that first greeted me was like wtf this box is empty... i was like it's just a foam plane.

then she went and got the manager - who was a chick about my age - I didn't notice at first but the girl i was with walked away... hit on the manager girl a couple min and she swapped it out for me.. all the had was the aero ace jet... (since it was like 1:30am they aren't supposed to do any exchanges/returns) she also knocked a couple $$ off the price for me.. .yay!

this one works it seems- it's a little loud though so i just kinda made sure it worked and now im heading to bed... gotta work in.... 4 hours.

hmm... I'm gonna go to target and see if they have anymore of the biplanes on clearance.

I played w/ it for about ~20 min this morning... pretty cool - especially when I discovered 1) it only takes a VERY light toss to get it going and 2) it doesn't take a lot of throttle to keep it going... but it doesn't climb that quickly since too much throttle too quickly will make it stall... I was reading about a mod that lets one motor turn so you can turn without climbing. maybe it's just the jet - but i can't imagine it climbing without throttle unless there was a TON of wind and it was REALLY high up or something. I had to kind of work to get it to ~40ft high.. and as soon as I let go of the throttle it glides down - not a nosedive but it loses height quickly

yeah also - I dunno about the biplane - I would bet it's better at slow-flying - But the 'jet' really can't be flown indoors due to height issues... I was playing with it flying above the cubicles, and it's hard to keep a steady enough throttle to not go too low. I might be able to do it w/ more practice I dunno -

on the biplane, add some weight to the nose, like a thumbtack or some push pins. They make it fly 100 times better and it won't porpoise on you.

I have 3 Aero Aces and 1 Jet. My labs go crazy when I fly them over and one of mine got mangled when I flew it in the park with them and could not bring it down without one of them pouncing on it. I had it in the air for about 15 minutes and thought I'd fly it to myself and catch it. The dog was going nuts though so between her barking and jumping all around me and controlling it, I fumbled it and she grabbed the plane by the tail and bent it all up.

These things are a blast. I even went to Target on Friday and almost bought another one.

OP, I had the same problem as you with one of mine, but in the manual there is some explanation of how to fix that. I can't remember off hand but it worked for mine and it's worked since.

I fly it in the front yard and in the subdivision intersection and ppl stop all the time and just watch or ask where I got it. From kids to adults, ppl see these things in action and just start to get excited. THey ROCK!

I don't know how to do the mod by hand, but you can buy an aftermarket transmitter that has that mod plus a few others here:

http://www.aeroacemods.com/aam/aeroace/#part_53

It's a bit pricey at $29, but with the ability to change freqs it seems like a pretty nice setup.

Oh on a side note, Air Hogs is coming out with one of those land/air/sea vehicles in a month or two, supposed to be around $80 at Toys R Us and other locations. I've seen more powerful single-motor versions elsewhere, but they run like $200. Obviously the design isn't ideal for really stable flight, but it'd be cool to have a toy that can go on the ground, over water, and then take off and fly around a bit. The website says it can even do a slow hover, check out the Flash video here:

http://www.airhogs.com/

I'm definately interested in picking one up. My buddy got a hovercraft from the local toy store recently and it goes like 2mph - we couldn't even chase ducks with it. This looks like it goes a lot faster plus you can fly it around or take it on land. Pretty sweet

Yeah - I didn't try that before going all the way back to wal mart at ~3 am.

It wasn't an issue w/ the batteries - I suspect that the controller or plane was mislabeled and the wrong frequency.

I took my AA out yesterday. Damn wind took it all over the place. But when the wind's calm, I had a lot of fun w/ it. Longest I kept it in air was about 30 sec I think. I'm gonna try the thumb tac mod tomorrow.

I already dropped $60 on 2 planes the bi-plane and the jet. I lost the jet in high winds.
My bipe is busted, but the guts are still good...so I'm trying to figure out how to build a plane that I can put the guts in.
I think I'm going to save my money for the Storm Launcher

if you can get the wind conditions just right, its fun to try to hover those planes by keeping the nose in the wind, and throttling down as needed.

also, keep the AAs fresh to keep good quality charges on the plane's battery.

Bwahahahaha, the Storm Launcher looks awesome. Maybe I'll buy it when my AA biplane's busted.

rofl - to make a long story short - g/f wanted to try flying the plane - yeah. right onto my roof (which is not walkable...)

so - she bought me the biplane (which btw I like better. it's slower but more 'predictable') then tied a string to a pinecone, threw the pinecone across where the plane is and got it off

so now I have both!! (the jet was starting to nosedive anyway after i bashed it into a wall - the front of the biplane seems more durable) and since it says indoor friend im gonna swap it for a new one (the biplane is barely indoor friendly in a HUGE room - the jet won't work in anything but maybe a warehouse. The jet needs height bigtime, the biplane does well at low height situations)...
