While I do have a distaste for this new search, it still isn't that hard. I did the same thing to find a 770 I always would have. I clicked the Nvidia check box, clicked the 700 series, clicked the 770.

They look like checkboxes now, but function as links. Clicking the Nvidia checkbox removed all the AMD options and reloaded the page.

Interesting. When I do that I don't get an option to click on the 770. A list of 700 series products is never provided.

You might have to expand the show more options link.

It is sad Newegg is messing up their search though. The only reason I ever go to Newegg anymore is to search by feature for the exact product I want; and then I go buy it on Amazon. >_>

they are making a lot of effort towards self annihilation, I ended up using the power search, but there too they reduced the options to the minimum. Its sucks. Instead of downgrading their search to Amazon level, why don't they work on the price.

I just typed "770" in the search box. That's how I always use newegg though. Type as generalized a term for what I want as possible in the search box, then use the side tools to filter the search results.

Why are sites always trying to fix things that aren't broke?

Is the dev team simply justifying their continued existence?

I seem to remember being able to compare a large number of items side by side. Now Newegg limits it to 5. Why? That's the opposite of progress.

Agreed, I would strongly recommend they cut their IT budget and use it towards lowering their product cost.

WTF!?

Why mess with a good thing like this? Their left panel links have been one of their best features. All this is going to do is add more clicks to actually find the products I want. Which of course leads to less purchases.

See I think they are onto us finally. Figure if they make their interface as shitty as Amazon's for tech purchases, we'll start buy more from them!

That's one school of thought, and I guess the egg's business folks do belong to that.
I look at it differently, now atleast I was going to newegg to use their awesome filters to do my research but then I would end up buying from Amazon if they are cheaper. But i egg's search and filters deteriorate any further, I will just stop going there all together.

It looks like they just put some of the more useful selections in the More Options category at the bottom of the sidebar. Clicking that makes it just as easy to use search settings that narrow down to products you want.

I don't recall being able to show only "770s" strictly through use of the search filters. Like it is now, I thought it would be "700 series" and then narrowing by word searches or manufacturer would help you pare down to what you actually want to see.

Yea, their greatest advantage they had over Amazon's website...

GONE!

So the 3 switches I needed to purchase earlier today I went with Amazon for the sale

Don't like it. Takes a couple more drop down menus and clicking on the left panel to get to what I want (and could get in a few clicks before). Fire the web designer.

Typing 770 into the search box seems to work as well as it ever has

But yeah checkboxes inferior to listboxes in this case.

They've always used checkboxes in their Power Search, which usually works fine.

Anyway, I use a Firefox search keyword for sites like Newegg ("egg") and Amazon ("a") as well as many others. Typing "egg GTX 770" and hitting enter will bring up the 770s at Newegg.

EDIT:

So, I finally gave it a try, and I think the biggest fault is the same that they had with the listboxes: they don't organize them well. For example, with GPUs, GPU brand or model should be right at the top. I shouldn't have to hit more options just to see those categories. They can do this "easily" using statistics to put the categories that people use the most at the top.

Previously it was a 2 step process. When you searched for 700 series cards, the individual 700 series GPUs would become filter options once the search completed.

Anything is better than Amazon's listing/searching. Yeah, the old system at Newegg was better though.
