I've had an MZ-N707 MiniDisc player since December that I've been really happy with.

It's run into a problem when editing the TOC and it just takes forever and the disc clicks. I was going to return it to them because it seems like it's become defective, but after trying to fill out an online repair request, I find I have to pay $87 for labor. :|:|:|:|:|:|

That's almost half what I paid for the damn thing and it's only been just over 3 months!! :|:|:|

Labor is only covered for the first 90 days.

This is fuggin' ridiculous.

Sony's warranties suck. Their initial quality is ok but god forbid you have a problem and it's damn near impossible to get anything out of them.

Most manufacturers have a pretty standard 90 day warranty. I hate that this happened to you, but any other manufacturer would have told you the same thing. How close to the 90 days has it been? You might get a supervisor to make an exception...

What Ive always said. Great products but very expensive to repair and poor warranties.

tells me that people that buy sony often bring it back, other companies they have no problem...

I don't have CCs. Most of the cost was paid by my BofA check card.

Which actually should have extended the warranty on the purchase. Thanks RossMAN. I had not thought of that.

I'll have to check into that. I guess I'm just used to dealing with computer hardware and expected it to be covered like a hard drive or anything like that.

Assuming you're using a VISA, check with BOFA and ask if you have:

Visa Classic Check Card
Visa Gold Check Card
Visa Platinum Check Card

Then check with VISA to see if you're eligible for WARRANTY MANAGER.
