I believe we are seeing sellers revenge against Ebay and Paypal by subjecting the buyers to scam after scam in an attempt to drive off buyers from Ebay.
I have made many transactions of HD-DVDs lately in the past 5 months where the sellers were simply scamming buyers and listing BUY IT NOW auctions they never had to ship in the first place. Or they would just list thousands of items for auction/sale, and simply never ship anything when it closed. And these are not low feedback new sellers, either. These are high feedback and high positive rated gold sellers who just decided to give Ebay the finger (along with Paypal) and took hundreds of buyers along for the joyride at the same time they decided to quit using Ebay/Paypal to sell.
This then leaves hundreds or even thousands of buyers per seller that have to dispute the transactions with Ebay/Paypal and meanwhile the sellers take in $1000's or even $100,000 or more of dollars in their "going out of business" scams. Just imagine 1000 people getting scammed buying $2000 flat screen HDTVs from one previously great seller, and you can imagine the magnitude of this problem now.
But Ebay/Paypal has been causing this sellers rebellion with all the constant fee increases and the fact a seller now can't even leave a negative feedback to a deadbeat buyer, so why would a seller even want to use Ebay anymore? Ebay is methodically killing the gooses that laid the golden eggs, and they are still too greedy to even notice it.
