I'm curious...would you also call the cops on a driver who wasn't wearing their safety belt (in states where it is illegal)? Why or why not?

Not buckling up doesn't effect handicap people. Hell if you want to go without your seatbelt that's fine with me

$290 fine in my neck of the woods.

I can't believe anyone is advocating keying a car. What chicken sh!ts. Either be a man and confront the individual and give them a verbal beat down, or all a tow company and have them towed. Towing companies love that crap. it's free money for them.

get annoying instead.

leave their wiperblades up, and flip them around so they can't just pop them back down. Put your trash on their hood, or put shaving cream at various spots. Pick a new place each time. Tape a flag with a handicap symbol to their antenna. Do this everytime you see a car parked there.

Actually, that's a good idea. I think I'll start flipping the wiper blades up of everyone who parks in a handicapped spot without a permit

I can see it now.. your next post is "sombody has been messing with my car and i want to mess them up"

Yeah that is fvcked up.

Better make it his fault....take a welding rod and push it through the radiator. It will stop most electric fans. Since it is obvious he doesn't pay attention (parking in handicap space) he will likely ignore the warning light and bye bye head gasket+.* His fault.

*On direct drive fans this will likely tear up the radiator then it is your fault. Make/model of car?

My grandma is 86 and has a very hard time walking long distances. It really burns me when we take her out and have to spen 5 minutes blocking traffic to get her out of the car because d!ckheads with no tag are taking up all the Handicapped stalls. There is no way she can walk across the entire parking lot, even with a cane and us supporting her.

You know sometimes the cops will let it go especially if they can find the owner of the car in the area. Whether it be sympathy or apathy, the result is the handicap spot will be free again for a little while before it happens again. I've seen townsfolk get away with it time and time again, they're like 30something and they have a parking tag... cop just drives by because they know its a townie. F that... cops won't help.

Most tow truck drivers are not so forgiving... they're usually itching for a reason to tow a car... you tell the tow company that you have an illegally parked car in a handicap spot? OMGWTFBBQ... they'll be over quick and they probably won't care if you're the apartment manager or not. They'll be glad to collect fees from the idiot that parked there in the first place.

I wonder how much it is to buy one of those "wheel clamps" they use in Europe & UK... you can now make their car "handicapped."

Well my note plan was foiled, it's started pouring rain like 5 minutes before I was going to walk out and do it. Still raining. Note would be a soggy mess by morning.

I'm just wondering, if I call the cops, who do I call? Obviously not 911, just the main police station line and tell them the problem?

Leave them a note telling them you'll call the cops next time. Maybe having their car towed or getting a ticket will open their eyes.

Call the cops. They'll come out and give them a nice, big ticket. I've even heard of people pulling up their car behind the car that's in the spot so they can't leave and they sit and wait for the cops to show up...

But if it's a repeat offender, I'd definitely call the cops every time.

I definitely wouldn't advocate vandalizing someone's car. What if they had a good excuse?

My dad had a stroke and I had to take him around a lot of places. I wouldn't use any handicapped spots but if I did, I think I might be justified in using one. I don't have a handicapped permit because I wouldn't feel right having one but that could be the case.

Or maybe the guys needed to do an emergency dump and had no choice but to take a spot to run inside? You never know.

Call the cops of course. My GF has a handicapped tag and I swear she is the handicap nazi of her apartment complex.

If you want to risk your own life by not wearing your safety belt, that's your own concern. However, if I see you driving with kids in the car, who are clearly not buckled down, I will call 911 posthaste.

How do towing companies handle fees for towing from private property? Personally, I'd happily pay to have a car towed if it's illegally parked in a handicapped space. But I'm picturing the jerk coming out of the store, finding his car gone, panicking, calling cops, calling all over creation to find his car, then having to shell out big bux to get it back - delicious.

if its raining then go to a party store and buy some colored streamers. wrap up their car and turn it into a rainbow (the ink bleeds when wet). its not permanent like scratching and i am sure that jag owner will love it.

That's no biggie, but he's had to ask strangers to do it for him too. Hell of a deal when you are an independent ex-green beret and fireman. "Hey mister, could you get in my crappy seat, after you turn it around, don't mind the blue pad it's fresh, and move my van for me?"

I followed this one 40ish lady into the library one day, and asked her what the sticker was for. "my mother", she said. Where's your mom? why do you think you can park in that spot?
I bitched her out loud all the way into the library and back out. I bet she wished she used the book drop, LOL!!!
I confront all those asswipes any time I see them park. Chicksh!ts like that won't do anything though, all's the pity.

Yup, I believe that anybody who misabuses handicapped parking in that way needs to be beaten like Barry Bonds clubbin a baby seal. If it weren't for those and the fat people who are labeled handicapped because they can't stop eating, you wouldn't need as many parking places.

I think they should label the first rows for handicap, pregnant women and little old lady parking only, then skinny people and have a separate area for large people all the way on the other end of the parking lot.

 on the lazy fat asses

I have to park in a parking garage at the train station every morning to go to work. A couple of weeks ago, as I'm walking towards the stairs after parking, a beat up Taurus barrels down the lane and if I hadn't seen it and stopped, the b!tch would've hit me with the side mirror. I then see her go all the way to the front, park in a handicap spot (she did have a sticker I believe), and get out of the car. Her beyond-obese ass slides out of the car (after a bit of a struggle) and proceeds to waddle over to the elevator...to go down from the second floor to the first.

Go to the auto store and get a valve stem core remover. Then just unscrew the valve stem core and leave it next to the soon to be deflated tire. Takes like 5 seconds. No damage done, just the inconvenience of changing the tire and having the core put back in and reinflated.

They waste your time, you waste thiers.

If you are not handicapped, then how does other people's parking in these spots concern you? Whether or not they park there affects you in no way, does it?

Do you hate everyone, or just people who can't walk?

I don't hate anyone.

It seemed like from some people's post that they would report people for illegally parking in handicapped spots because they were jealous of people cheating the system, not for legitimate concern for the handicapped. That seems petty.

I would be angry to see people park in these spaces illegally, too, but because they deprive handicapped spots to those in need. But I don't think its my place to intervene. I am not an advocate for any handicapped person. I would only be advocating my idea of morality without any personally practical justification.

But if you have handicapped family who need to park there, or are a handicapped driver who is being deprived a spot unfairly, I think you have a good justification for argument.

I did not get that impression from a single person. I think you need to watch Boondock Saints. The only thing worse than those people parking illegally are the people who are indifferent to it

All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing
