Best suggestion yet.

Moral relativism doesn't apply to the law. Laws are only truly successful when the are upheld by a society, and you, as part of society, have a full right to help uphold the law. Bad laws can be torn down by society refusing to adhere to them. But your thought that you're advocating your own idea of morality is completely empty when it comes to a legal question that you've already stated you agree with.

my bro's been in a chair since '75. I care a great deal. I've had to move his van for him when some asshat parks on the ramp area and he can't unfold the ramp. That's no biggie, but he's had to ask strangers to do it for him too. Hell of a deal when you are an independent ex-green beret and fireman. "Hey mister, could you get in my crappy seat, after you turn it around, don't mind the blue pad it's fresh, and move my van for me?"

I followed this one 40ish lady into the library one day, and asked her what the sticker was for. "my mother", she said. Where's your mom? why do you think you can park in that spot?
I bitched her out loud all the way into the library and back out. I bet she wished she used the book drop, LOL!!!
I confront all those asswipes any time I see them park. Chicksh!ts like that won't do anything though, all's the pity.

Good. I bet most of them drive Ford F-150s and have shaved heads.

People need to learn some respect and also how to be considerate. In this situation, being an asshole is just like playing Robin Hood, so get them towed or ticketed or something.

Yup, I believe that anybody who misabuses handicapped parking in that way needs to be beaten like Barry Bonds clubbin a baby seal. If it weren't for those and the fat people who are labeled handicapped because they can't stop eating, you wouldn't need as many parking places.

I think they should label the first rows for handicap, pregnant women and little old lady parking only, then skinny people and have a separate area for large people all the way on the other end of the parking lot.

This is the kind of behavior that almost all people who drive Ford F-150s around here display. They're almost always shaved-headed pricks who are in their 40s or 50s and think they own the world because they bought a truck.

I apologize if you own this truck and are not at all like that. You'll make number two of guys I know of that aren't pricks who drive this truck.

That would be cool. Have the body fat percentage be the last two numbers on the licence plate so cops could tell. Then have wiegh ins once a year or two.

If you are not handicapped, then how does other people's parking in these spots concern you? Whether or not they park there affects you in no way, does it?

Do you hate everyone, or just people who can't walk?

I don't hate anyone.

It seemed like from some people's post that they would report people for illegally parking in handicapped spots because they were jealous of people cheating the system, not for legitimate concern for the handicapped. That seems petty.

I would be angry to see people park in these spaces illegally, too, but because they deprive handicapped spots to those in need. But I don't think its my place to intervene. I am not an advocate for any handicapped person. I would only be advocating my idea of morality without any personally practical justification.

But if you have handicapped family who need to park there, or are a handicapped driver who is being deprived a spot unfairly, I think you have a good justification for argument.

I did not get that impression from a single person. I think you need to watch Boondock Saints. The only thing worse than those people parking illegally are the people who are indifferent to it

All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing

OK...You live in CA. Totally different world (in some ways). Here it is more likely to be a soccer mom although possibly in an F150. In general the F150 people have respect for law and their fellow man.

I don't currently own one but have in the past and I would never park in a handicap spot and I have a shaved head.

Yeah, here in Cali people are dickwads in F-150s. Soccer moms here are pretty bad too though in their Expeditions or other over-sized SUVs and their cell phones. Whatever study that said they were less than 5% of accident causers or whatever is way off, at least for this area. Maybe we're an outlier.

my experience has been mostly women or older guys who have scammed a handicap tag. They think no one pays attention. Wrong!!
I have a friend who has a tag he got after a surgery, and he tried using it while I was riding with him. Oh sh!t, that was funny. "Fred" is about 70, definitly a type A personality, and had a heart attack and a subsequent pacer installed.
He pumps the stairclimber for a good half hour every morning.

I asked him if it hurt him to walk on in from a ways out or something. I goaded the crap out of him.
He just want to have that special treatment, to "pull one over" on the rest of us folks.
Pure bullcrap.

What's wrong with calling police to complain about those drivers who illegally park in h.c. parking? Call and let police take care of it. The police officer takes this seriously and will fine them big time. In arizona, 518 dollars fine for illegal parking in disabled parking spot.

that works when they catch them. you have to admit though, it will be a low priority for them. Everyone would want the cops to go to a domestic or robbery before they trip on over to ticket an illegally parked car

That bro I am talking about, he teaches high school math!
He really is a tough mutha

Key the entire side of the car and leave a note that says: "I'm sorry about the damage to your car, my wheelchair scratched it as I was trying to get by. But since you're handicapped yourself, you understand"

You know what's really annoying? When a parking lot is packed but there's 5 handicapped spaces up front nobody is using.

I have only seen a couple places that did this, and it never made sense to me. You rarely see that one handicap spot taken, why put in 5? I mean, I live in a residential area heavily populated by old people homes, but we still rarely see those spots filled.

I'm curious...would you also call the cops on a driver who wasn't wearing their safety belt (in states where it is illegal)? Why or why not?

be grateful your apartment complex has extra parking. ours doesn't have enough to go around, and neither do the surrounding complexes, so visitor parking can be a major hassle.
