I gotta figure out how to stop this. I only want selected programs on my Start menu, not where you go into the programs section, just right there after you press start. It keeps adding programs to the left side, stuff i don't want to be there, and i can't make it stop. Everytime i use a program it just adds it to the menu there. Again this is right where you open up the start menu, not in any sub folders. It's annoying as it builds up very quickly.

Have you tried using the "classic" start menu. It's a start menu like Windows 2000 was.
You can customize this setting to only have so many recent programs shown there. You might also be able to set it to 0 or disable it.

Maybe I don't understand your question. If you just want to rewmove "most recently used" stuff:

1. right click the start button
2. select properties-customize and set it up the way you want (I always set the number of programs to zero and drag a windows explorer or an explorer that starts at doc&settings there) You can drag anything you want to the top, where internet and email are.
2. On the advanced tab, you can remove favorites, my music, yada-yada

It builds up quickly? There is a setting on taskbar properties for how many entries go there, and then that is it. It just puts your most used programs there also, so its not like you get lots of stuff you dont use.

Right click "Start".
Click on "Properties".
Click on "Customize".
Change "Number of programs on Start menu" to 0.
Click "OK".
