Just finished typing a 20 minute query to open a dispute and sure enough, hit submit, and paypal timed me out of my session.

WHAT A CROCK OF SH!T.

Absolutely. I insisted all of my financial logins _never_ timeout because of the inconvenience it causes.

If you'd been using Opera you could have just hit the back button and copied your text to the clipboard.

What you could have done was opened a new tab, logged into PayPal, gone back to the original tab, hit back, and then hit okay.

I'm really surprised nothing has come to compete with Paypal yet. Everyone hates it, but everyone uses it, and it's still the fastest method of payment.

I've been using google checkout for the past year with no problems whatsoever.

This is why I use Word. 1. It's a spell checker and 2. In the case you get logged out or the post gets deleted somehow, you have a hard copy in which you can copy and paste back into the text box. Start doing this, it will save you headache in the future!

I realize this issue happened on PayPal's site, but the only solution is to type it up in Notepad or something, that's what I always do. I actually like that they require a login after a period of inactivity as short as it is.

However, they should realize that 99% of people don't think about this and have a solution in place so that you don't lose what you typed. I've never understood why they wouldn't do this.

Maybe we're onto something here...

Notepad saves

How is this PayPal's fault?

That's right, it isn't.

Most financial sites will at least offer a pop up asking if you want to keep the session active.

So thats right, it is.

But how many people on ebay use paypal and NOT google checkout?

Google does everything better, I wish they'd take over Paypal.

I would close my paypal account if there was another auction site I could use and easily pay.

Also, I bill clients, and they pay me via paypal.....

I still only have the personal account

I use Paypal a lot, however, I ALWAYS make sure the funding source is my credit card. Last time I didn't get an item, I filed a claim through USAA. Got my money back pretty quick
