Maybe he was praying to God for understanding and God gave him a moment of clarity about what he had done.

I would rather have had him on strict suicide watch. That way he would be forced to endure even more punishment from the other inmates. Fuck him.

Craig's heart bleeds for him! Such a tragedy. Surely he could have been rehabilitated back into society.

I can sort of see where Craig is coming from but the guy chose to kill himself, he wasn't mistreated and there's no way in hell he could or should be released so everything that happened to him was his choice and responsibility.
I really don't have a problem with the death penalty for people like this. You can't ever release them and they have done nothing that warrants the rest of society looking after them for life. I think we should just quickly, quietly and painlessly end them and move on.

So, the best you can do is to lie and misrepresent what I said?

I wish he could have been, but see no indication that was possible, life in prison deserved.

I will post one caveat - I like Europe's system that the maximum sentence is 17 years IIUC. But they seem to have an exception for extension if the person is still a danger.

Which...you just implied, essentially: You like the system where the person is imprisoned no longer than 17 years, which would then mean they would have to be placed back into society.

The caveat of whether or not the "person is still a danger" is a total cop out. That works great on forums and for pretend intellectuals, but then someone still has to rent the house and raise his family next door to the guy who has been deemed "no longer a danger" by the all-knowing-all-seeing state.

Please.

'Cop out' is easy name-calling to throw. Actually, it seems to work well. Yours is a cop out.

Please what?

You've once against deliberately misrepresented what he said by missing out the "an exception for extension if the person is still a danger" part.

One of the reasons why having a justice system based around rehabilitation is that you aren't just giving up on people the moment they do something wrong.

The possibility of having to live next door to someone like that is a cost of living in a civilised society.
