Are you able to think for yourself at all?

Such a scheme would be unconstitutional, but not because it would be a poll tax.

lol!

One example of a poll tax would be to levy a tax on the ownership of property, but the impost is a fixed amount assessed merely on the ownership of property, not assessed on the value of the property, or number of acres, or purchase price, so regardless if one owns 1/4 acre of useless dirt or 40 acres of English walnut, every owner of property is levied the same amount. The act of owning is being taxed, which is to say the property owner himself is being taxed, not the property = poll tax.

Don't mix a 'RIGHT' with that of a 'PRIVILEGE'

For example, driving is a privilege, so the fee for a license is valid, and that license
is acceptable as identification - however voting is a right, and the right to vote is not
to be substantiated by charging a poll tax, or requiring a qualifacation of material
ownership as the threshold to that right.
Felons have forfited their right to vote, however the right may or can be reinstated upon
completion of paying their debt to society, persuiant to the laws of the state that said
infraction took place, even if that person has moved to another state.

Why would it be illegal? I'm afraid to ask, of course, because it will indicate I can't think for myself, but then I'm afraid not to, well out of curiosity.

If I used to be able to vote ok and now have to buy something to vote how is that not a tax on my head to vote? If I have to buy an ID or a pencil to mark the ballot, what's the difference if I didn't have to before?

So you would rather encourage voter fraud than to make sure people are not voting twice or that dead people are voting. The cost of picture ID is hardly expensive.

I would propose that for those folks so incredibly poor, if they wish to vote , their respective state should issue them a free voter identification card clearly marked "good for no purpose other than voting" and that expires every 2 years or so. I mean, we all know how those that are completely broke turn out to vote in masses, so I don't think this would be an extraordinarily costly idea to implement.

Vote early, vote often.. thats what the democrats like...

Wisconsin has legislation pending for voter ID, which will probably be vetoed by the commie governor here.. a democrat.. big surprise.. Democrats are anti-voter ID because the fraud vote is so important to them winning.

Talking out of your a*s again, aren't you? everything you said is a lie. But for republicans, lieing about what Dems do or think is acceptable behavior. No surprise there.

Not a bad solution, but everyone should receive the ID for free. It also should be sufficient for longer than 2 years only re-issued when someone moves to a new address or when Electoral boundaries have changed. I'm not exactly how the Voter ID works here(British Columbia Canada), but I was issued a Voter ID 5ish years ago and it's still good.

The only thing I could see as a potential problem for having an extended card would be counterfeiting, but even that would be a difficult thing to accomplish for Electoral Districts do have Voters Lists which shows who is eligible to vote and who isn't.

Wisconsin's Govenor is a Democrat and they do/did have legislation pending. I still try to keep up on Wisc politics a tad since I know a guy who is in the state assembly and I used to live in Wisc. I wonder what became of that....probably swept under the rug like the rest of the "important" and easy stuff

She only did this to garner the illegal vote in Arizona. Come 2025 hispanics will be the majority in Arizona. I can hear her kissing latin heiny all the way on the East coast.

Yeah, instead she should be kissing the majority rich white heiny instead like most politicians.

To anyone who thinks this is a "Good" idea...

Please tell me if you think that people who are in this country illegally should be allowed to vote?

AND...

Please tell me what percentage of registered voters cannot afford or, if free do not have the means, to acquire a LEGAL photo ID??

What is wrong with a national ID card?

I don't know where this idea that people would have to pay for a voting card comes from but I'll comment anyway

Yes voters need to have identification to vote - it prevents fraud.
No, illegals and ALL non-citizens should not have the right to vote.

We already do, it just isn't a photo ID (social security card)

Come 2025 the demographics will have changed greatly nationally, white men should clearly be in the minority by then, should be some interesting politics. Women and minorities will collectively have full power, that does not look good for the GOP.

They obviously have no concept of demographics by their retoric.

edit...date fail.

Why are people permitted to "necro-bump" threads this old?

They should be locked after a year or two.
