I liked the game though. Looks to be fun, does anyone know what type of DRM it will employ?

I liked the demo as well, it's cool, not really jaw-dropping game-play, but overall it's nice, I think I will buy it when the price is reduced in a few months.

In this day and age of high speed broadband - 2gb doesn't take long to DL.

But I agree - 10-15 mins of gameplay is a bit ludicrous for 2gb.

That actually looks like a pretty significant difference in atmosphere. I wonder how 920@3.5 Ghz and a 4890 would do at software emulated PhysX in this game or is it something that REQUIRES a hardware nvidia card?

The game suggested using a 9800GTX+ as separate card for PhysX on the high setting so probably not.

Wow, this game looks pretty decent. Nice atmosphere. Probably gets old quickly if there's nothing else but oh well. I'm sure 1 gig of the 2 gigs is for the opening movie.....

Odd that they simply removed some stuff, like the steam. I'm pretty sure that ATI cards can render steam as well, although I imagine they used PhysX to make the fog to respond to the environment.

The damage on the tile floor could have also been simulated with a stock animation for non-PhysX capable cards. Valve did this in HL2 for bullet holes, and while it doesn't look as good as the destructible objects in Arkham Asylum it still looks better then nothing at all.

Don't get me wrong, some cool PhysX stuff in there, but I fear that some of the omissions in the non-PhysX version are a little contrived. If it's a fun game it really won't matter anyway.

Why do games even have prerendered cut scenes? 99% of the time, they look shittier than the actual game and they take up way more space. Classic example of this is how those Quake Done Quick demo files were like 5mb but the AVI version, which was lower quality, was over 120mb.

Here is a prerendered picture I took of the intro movie:
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/1542/prerendered.jpg

Here is what the game actually looks like at high texture resolution, lowest graphical details, no AA, no AF.
http://img21.imageshack.us/img...3/realtimerendered.jpg

It might be a bit hard to see from pictures alone but the realtime graphics really are a lot better. Those prerendered scenes look like they're only 30fps but the actual game looks beautiful at 60fps. Another thing to notice is that the file size for the prerendered screenshot is half the size of the realtime screenshot. Both were saved as 100% quality jpg in Paint.NET at the same resolution. Fewer colors in the prerendered?

edit:
When you said the movies were half the size, that's literally true. The demo's install folder is a total of 1.89gb. The "movies" folder is 1.07gb. What's even more bullshit is that there are 6 copies of this file called "Attract.bik" where 5 of them are other languages. There's the standard attract.bik then there's attract_DE.bik, attract_ES.bik, attract_FR.bik and so on. What a waste of hard drive space.

Hmm... "PhysX" reminds me of what 3dfx did for quake...

Demo was pretty good - definitely console oriented - but fun nonetheless..and didn't require a computer from the year 2030 to run nice and smooth on high settings.

Many posters on other sites feel that the release delay could be attributed to DRM implementation - let's hope they're wrong.

I played the 360 Demo the other day, might need to try the PC one as I was unaware of it til now. It's like an arcade game that makes you slow down and think a little more deeply some of the time (ala' Metal Gear Solid). Sometimes you just have to straight jack some fools, other times (when they have guns) you have to be sneaky.

As nice as physX is, I can't seem to justify spending $300 on a graphics card just for it. With 4 core cpus (and probably more in the near future), I don't understand why a cpu core can't be dedicated to this instead?

Because they can't charge you again for the core in question?

I see Harley is as big a whore as ever.

Gameplay is meh. Most of the really cool shit is heavily scripted. All you do is HIT "X" TO NOT DIE and thats about it. Action isnt much better than Final Fight from back in the Genesis/SNES days.
