Arma 3, the latest installment of the tactical military simulation game from independent developers Bohemia Interactive, creators of the award-winning mil-sim series Arma.

Storyline
Survive, Adapt, Win
After years of intense warfare against Eastern armies, Europe has become the last stand for the battered NATO forces. On the verge of being driven into the sea, NATO command embarks upon a most desperate measure. In the hope of seizing what seems to be a well-guarded military secret, Operation Magnitude is launched. A small group of Special Forces and Researchers are sent to a Mediterranean island deep behind enemy lines. However, the mission is compromised and the task force destroyed, leaving Cpt. Scott Miller washed ashore upon the hostile island. In his effort to carry out the mission, he will face the dangers of modern warfare, an unforgiving environment, and the consequences of his own decisions...

-Survive in the rich & authentic environment
-Adapt to the unsurpassed experience of modern ground combat
-Win the open-ended & story-driven campaign

Combining the strength of its predecessors with radical engine improvements, Arma 3 provides a unique experience of sandbox-oriented combat gameplay in the most detailed environment of the series.

Key features:

PC exclusive...not dumbed down to suit consoles
GPU physics...not dumbed down to suit consoles

And a fair warning.

Anyone thinking CoD is the real deal and spray'n pray is a valid tatic...stay away.
Arma will eat you up and spit you out.

It's a mil-sim...not a crappy consol shooter on rails...you have been warned.

.oO(I cannot wait for this game!!!)

God I love the Arma series. Though, I think I spend more time in the editor than I do actually playing! Blackhawk insertion/extraction missions FTW.

The only thing I pray for, is for them to fix to multiplayer lag.... if they can create something as smooth and fluid as battlefield(lag wise) then my heart would fill with joy. The only issue I had with ARMA 2 was the lag, watching players run and perform actions was just a killer for me as it looked so unrealistic. I also hope the engine performs a lot better, especially with top of the line hardware, if they can optimize it really well then I think this game will conquer its predecessors.

I have Arma II, it is super unforgiving. Not going to lie it is too intense for me. That said I can see the appeal. Glad this is staying true to its roots.

I was sent out (with U.N.) during the Balkan civil war...the Arma series is the only games that come just kinda close to the real deal.

I hate games like CoD or Bad Company...feels like an insult to my intelligence, where as multiplayer in Arma exercises my neurons

Anyone who is looking forward to this game, the alpha starts on the 5th of March. If you preorder one of the three packages you get instant access to the alpha/beta starting this Tuesday.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to this enough that I may buy-in for early access.

I'm a bit surprised about how mediocre the Recommended Specs are:

i5-2300 / GTX 560 1GB or
X4 940 / 7750 1GB

Hell, even the minimum requirements includes Intel HD4000.

Arma 3 beta comes out next week http://www.arma3.com/buy if you buy it next week its half price compared to retail with alpha and beta access and alpha is 5th March!

Tier1ops will be setting up a server for this alpha next week and playing it in our community of hardcore Arma 2 players. We make nothing but custom missions and we use game adjusted real life military tactics (mostly american doctrine, basic squad and special forces configurations). We welcome new players and you can watch videos of what our gameplay looks like in Arma 2 at http://www.youtube.com/user/Tier1Operations (along with some joke videos, the how to helicopter is hilarious, those guys ever fly in real missions FYI!). Just go to the website and sign up if you think its for you.

I for one am really excited about getting Arma 3 next week, its looking gorgeous. Other games are unlikely to get any time from me if this game works well in Alpha (it might not, BIS aren't known for their quality unfortunately).

Only 5 hours until you can pre-order the game and get alpha access!

https://store.bistudio.com/

Just FYI, you can pre-order the entire game for only $33. That's insane. The devs are really cool people who are working hard to make a great game, and for only 33 bucks I think they deserve the purchase.

Oh, I almost forgot to post this video. It shows off some of the improvements made to the movement and aiming mechanics in ARMA III. It seems a little mundane at first, but if you watch the whole thing, you'll realize how brilliant the new stance system is.

Thanks for that. It looks amazing!

I enjoyed ARMA 2, but the movement/controls were so clunky that I would get really annoyed with the game. It looks like that has been vastly improved.
