i hope its not being rushed and actually works unlike ARMA 1.

Arma1, even the developers admit it was not a finished game. It was only in its alpha stages when it was released. However, it was ether release it when they did - or go bankrupt. With Arma2, they've had years to work on it, the funds from Arma1, and started with a firm foot on the ground already with Arma2's engine architecture branching off from Arma1.

So by all accounts, it hasn't been rushed.

they got funds from arma1? i don't know a single person who bought the game.

i can't really say much for the game because i never even got it to run. so i never saw anything nor fired a single bullet.

Looks interesting. Hope there is a demo on Steam. I am not buying games without a decent demo anymore.

According to their facebook page, it looks like this game has been pushed back to July for a US launch.

I bought it.

Same.

The retail version may have been pushed back though I haven't checked myself. The Steam Version has pre-purchase available now for the release of June 26th.

Arma2's official website has a flash game up on their site now, where you can win a copy of the game or something. But their websites been getting a lot of traffic these days and the game has been temporarily disabled.

Also, the German version that was released early has a patch available now, also on their website.

I bought it as well, and at least 4 of my friends did. Admittedly, it was PAINFUL when it first came out -- buggy, performed poorly, etc. It plays pretty well now, however, and can be fun. I am still debating whether or not I am going to pick up ArmA2 though, as there are some other games coming that I might want instead.

Let me ask a question...does this game take forever to get into the action and then die immediately? if so no thanks

I really like hardcore realistic fps but i cant stand the gigantic map scale maps because its just a huge waste of time...i dont want to spend my entire day just to have a couple confrontations

Metacritic

Not surprisingly most reviews consider the game unpolished, unfinished and bug ridden, just like every other game this 3rd-rate developer has pushed out the door. I'll be skipping this one. Maybe they'll get it right next time. I doubt it.

Depends on the mission creator. More serious mission makers make missions in which you may very well travel long distances and due to lack of observing the horizon, your taken out. Most mission makers however don't make missions that hardcore.

News Update:
ARMA2 DEMO coming June 15th or 16th.

Some of the YouTube videos of ARMA2 make the game look simpily amazing. However others make it look like trash. I think in this game YMMV...

However, that said, I believe with a few patches, this game could be really stellar. I will probably pick it up when it's released in the USA. I will try the demo first though.

can someone comment whether OP Flash 2 less hardcore than ARMA2? i thought so, maybe OP Flash 2 might be the better choice here.

OFP2 will be more of a "Realistic Arcade Game" than Arma2 yes. I'm not sure what kind of comparisons your looking to make but OFP2 will still have it (Like in OFP1 and Arma) where 1-2 shots will kill you no matter what. (No regenerating health or health kits to be seen at all in the entire game).

OFP2 will not have flyable planes like Arma2 though...

If this game takes forever to set up the action only to have the threat of dying quickly, then I will get it. I hate games that have nothing but action in your godlike character, and Operation Flashpoint was one of the few that actually was fun for me (Rainbow Six and Hitman were a couple others that did this well too.) If it is as Lumberg wants, I will have no interest in it.

hmm... if that's true i might be more interested in op flash 2 over arma2. i don't want ultra hard core, little arcadish might be better.

ARMA2 isn't what I though... My friend purchased it from a German online site after which he sent me a copy to try out. Long story short, with fairly good hardware it don't run too well, the AI is buggy as fuck, all in all it's no fun the way it is right now. Maybe the patches will fix this in the future but for now I don't recommend it.

FYI I have a GTX 285 SC and an i7 920 CPU, and it still ran poorly. It's sad, I was looking forward to it. However I still have hope with patches it will work better.

Good points on both points of views. I guess I'm in between the two. I don't mind time to plan (rainbow six, hitman as you mentioned are perfect examples of what I really enjoyed) but if its a hardcore fps, like Unreal or something similar, forget it. The way I read about this game is for its realism.

Bohemia have never released a game that was ready for release. Their work is sloppy and bug ridden, every time. I'm not the least bit surprised that my skepticism regarding this title was completely warranted.

on the subject of realism, i just don't think a 'super realistic' game is ever going to be very popular. heck, i had never even heard of the first arma until people started talking up the second.

people slam BF2 (for many good reasons) but the combat was pretty solid, aside from hitbox issues. there's a certain balance that has to struck between reality and what's fun. yeah, in real life i could shoot you from 200-300 yards with M16 sights, and an easy 500m+ with many sniper rifles. you could die from miles away with a guided rocket. but what satisfaction is there from being alive for a long while and then killed by an invisible enemy, only to have to repeat the entire process over?

i'd like to try this game, but i hated OFP and i don't think that's bodes well for this, even after (if?) the bugs are ironed out.
