Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force...or Coast Guards

I was thinking the navy. My friend said you can go fishing and stuff on your off time.

I like the ocean too.

Navy, you see the least live combat, or atleast I've been told. This is not saying that people in the Navy never see live combat but I'd imagine they see less.

I already joined the Air Force, for a number of reasons. The quality of life is better, you have more/better opportunities for a college education, etc.

The Navy isn't a bad choice either, however, I cannot stand the water.

Edit - You could join the Coast Guard, get all the benefits of the Navy and Air Force. The only combat you'd see would be drug runners and whatnot from Central America.

Marines. I'd want to be an ambassador. Actually, once I get my B.A. in polly sci, I'm actually considering joining the Marines as an ambassador or something in the office directing something. Hope to have my B.A. in under two years actually.

but it depends on what you're looking for.

If you want an easy life, day-to-day comfort, and technical skills go USAF.

If you want to be a hard-core motherfcker, go Marines or Special Ops.

If you want to travel and don't mind being on ships, try Navy.

If you want medical, school, and other benefits but don't like the ocean, dont want to be an AF weenie, but dont want the crap they give you in the Marines, go Army.

Since you're thinking about the Navy, keep in mind that being on ship sucks. It's not nearly as cool as you think it is. You also don't get a whole lot of combat training in most fields, if that's your thing.

Because it's true. I'm only half joking. Marines are "best" in a few key areas that you should keep in mind:

a) combat
b) overall toughness
c) sticking together/staying close-knit
d) discipline
e) doing the most with the least
f) making fun of the other services.

Every Branch Makes FUN of the OTHERS...
My dad were in the navy and he taunts the airforce and the army and as well the marines. My dad thinks that they are nearly worth less without the Navy. Well IMO one branch does depends on the others and this applies to all of the branches. So in general we all need each others. They do their jobs differently. Salute to our troops no matter what.

here's a rough high school analogy that just came to mind:

Marines: Varsity Wrestling, 2.5 GPA
Army: Basketball, 2.3 GPA
Air Force: AP/Honors students, chess team, 3.5+ GPA
Navy: Music/Band, 2.5 GPA

I'm currently in delay entry for the Navy. I go to basic in October.
