I think releasing all the episodes at once was a brilliant idea.

I am sure many people who just want to check out what all the buzz is about sign up for the free first month and that's what Netflix wants. A certain percentage will then keep the service. If they had released an episode a week than many people might think they will wait until all episodes are aired before signing up. And after 15 weeks the buzz will be gone and people would be less likely to want to get in on the "event"

'Arrested Development' Season 4 Causes Surge in Broadband Traffic Over Memorial Day Weekend

Here are a few highlights from the viewing stats:

- One DSL network had an astounding 36% of devices watching Netflix on Sunday watch at least part of one episode of Arrested Development. This was over 3x the number we saw for House of Cards (which had 11% viewing).

- Preliminary numbers show about 10% of viewers made it to Episode 15 on Sunday/Monday (More on this later today as we get data collated).

- One cable network saw a jump in Netflix traffic peak volumes of 10% on Sunday over the previous Sunday, with a corresponding 8% jump in the number of subscribers accessing Netflix overall. Even though this was a holiday weekend, Arrested Development was a significant contributor to that traffic jump.

- Peak usage for Arrested Development on Netflix on Sunday was twice that traffic seen on Monday, with a range of 2-7% of total Netflix traffic on various networks being directly attributable to Arrested Development.

Up to episode 7 and I'm still waiting for the laughs to kick in. The show is amusing, but it isn't anywhere near as funny. It seems to me that there's too much narration. I don't recall Ron Howard yapping as much over the original. And there also seems to be a lot more slapstick, and less verbal comedy.

Sad to hear what I have in store for the next 5 episodes. The scenes have no time to develop, so much cutting around back and forth.

Individual character episodes and narrating EVERYTHING is a real turn off. "Lindsay walked to the left, Lindsay walked to the right, bla bla bla." GD narrator STFU for a second!!!

I found the first viewing of the season to be rough, had to force my way through many episodes. But I expect repeated viewings to get better and better as we notice more going on. That's usually the case with AD and I think that's what they went for this season. I was really disappointed we didn't get the whole group's chicken dance this season, how could they have missed that?!

This is Arrested Development, not Scandal Makers. The narration is great!

I'm 9 eps in and can't wait for more. It was a little slow building momentum but once it got going it was worth the wait. I agree that the density is not quite as great as the earlier seasons, maybe because they didn't have to edit the eps down to TV length, but it will definitely merit repeated viewings so as to catch it all.

I'm forcing myself to re-watch the previous seasons before watching the new season. 20+ episodes in each season!! takes a while.

Can't wait though.

Why not? that's pretty much how the entire series has always been. Ever little line.event is bigger than it seems. Always has a double entendre and always comes back full circle in another episode.

only one epp in so far, very slow start as y'all have stated. Really don't like what they have done with Michael so far, but I am not passing judgment till the end. Cant wait to finish them all.

Has anyone else noticed the audio is horrible? I cant hear the narration over the scene. Very hard to watch the first epp. Never had any issues with other netflix content.

It's really interesting to see how it all the story lines start coming together. I'm only through ep 7 now and am really starting to get in to it.

What I think is hurting the show the most at this point is the run time. Almost all of these episodes are over 30m. The average runtime of the show broadcast was around 22 or 23. It's like we're getting 20 episodes or so, run time-wise. It's making each episode feel like its dragging a bit sometimes.

Maeby got it for her mother during an episode of the original series.

It was the episode where Lindsay wanted to date Steve Holt (who Maeby liked until she found out they were cousins), and where her voice was hoarse so she sounded like a dude. Maeby told Steve Holt that Lindsay was actually her tranny father, which Steve Holt believed. Maeby told her mother that the shirt was an upscale brand and that "Shemale" was pronounced "shuh-molly".

I've seen all the original AD episodes so many times that I practically have them memorized.
