I'm not reading this thread because I only just finished season 1 of the Flash, but I just wanna say how awesome this first season was. Probably my favorite 1st season of any superhero shows.

So at the winter finale we have them at a cemetery in presumably the near future and she tells him when they get back in the limo to kill him.

And now a month back in and still no clue what that was to mean.

Is supergirl worth the time. Or arrow?
I think Arrow is better than Supergirl but I don't really love either of them. Arrow is good the first couple of seasons since they have multiple plot lines and gradually reveal various mysteries. They also don't whine about killing or not killing the bad guys. They're both comic book shows so you have to have realistic expectations.

Supergirl I have some problems with. The idea of cloning most of the superman characters is a little annoying but I can get past that. The backstories of most of the peripheral characters don't really make any sense, but again, you can turn off the critical thinking part of your brain and again, it's a comic book show.

The real issue for me is that some of the plots devices just seem stupid. There's an incredible amount of hand-waving in terms of the reasons for certain things happening and how they happen. Normally I could ignore this but it happens with such monotonous frequency it can get on your nerves after a while.

Even so, I like the main characters such as Melissa Benoist and Calista Flockhart so I still watch it.

Agreed. I do not remember being this addicted to a show (in general). And season 2 is just as good so far!

Supergirl and arrow kinda suck.

Supergirl seems really weak and wishy washy and Oliver Queen is a mass murderer who suddenly got a conscience. I mean dude has probably killed more people than most of his enemies. He is low rent batman. Less skilled, less cool.

I like the flash but I have to say. Zoom is pretty freakin scary, if I was Barry Id make a call to supergirl and superman and whoever lol.

All that said...I have watched every episode of all three shows. :whiste:

Everything Marvel still kills everything DC tho.

I try to like these shows. In the end I can't help but feel like it's show runners don't want to be making these shows. Supergirl seems to be harvesting Superman stories, and Arrow has been doing almost nothing but Batman story lines. The Flash is the only one that has it's source materials being used for the show, but that show is is pretty much a "Monster of the week" show, mostly due to the show runners doing a DC character land grab. I get they want to introduce more characters to get people interested, but you'd think they'd also want to flesh out some of what they have.. past the CW teen drama stuff.

It's a pity because all of these characters have rich comic backgrounds that would make for great shows. If only the Show Runners would do that rather than keep wishing they were doing the DC Holy Trinity.

I still can't shake this feeling that the CW shows are ruining the superheroes as heroes. What bugs me is that in nearly every episode, Barry comes across as completely incompetent. He ends up requiring some sort of pep talk from someone to either figure out something new or just magically do something. This past week's episode is an example of the latter. Barry kept failing to vibrate through the glass, but all it took was a pep talk from Barry-2 to make him realize that he really could do it. I get the point of them doing that (makes Barry-2 not look so much like a little twat), but it comes across as lazy story writing (just magically overcomes something without much in the way of growth). I like my heroes to be heroic, but The Flash reminds me more of the Green Lantern movie: an incompetent hero that tends to whine a lot.

Watched the last flash. When old flash was standing in front of the "collapsing" portal I couldn't help but think someone should be shouting for him to move. When he got "speared", I laughed at the such evident occurrence.

Yeah, it was horribly telegraphed. And even closing the portal was inconsistent. In the previous episodes when they used the bomb to close the portals it closed instantly. In this case it stayed open for a long time, but everyone acted like it closed.

The surprising thing was I thought speedless Jay was Zoom, and he was playing a part so Frost could develop Velocity 9. Then it seemed like Jay was the man in the iron mask. Then Zoom grabbed Jay so I dont know wtf is going on. I guess Zoom could be a future version of Earth 1 Jay (aka Hunter Zolomon). Maybe Zoom isnt really that fast, and there are actually two or three of them. But in any event I dont know why Wells didnt blast him when Killer Frost had him down. That was a 'Legends of Tomorrow dont finish off Savage' kind of dumb.

I'm caught up on the Flash & halfway through the second season of Arrow. Really liking the second season of Arrow more than the first. Big fan of the Flash as well...it's not dark or heavy, just a fun superhero show.

Also, whoever did the sound mixing on Arrow Season 2 did a phenomenal job...I've been working on a custom micro 5.1 system and S2:14 ("Time of Death") sounds fantastic - clear vocals, great separation between the speakers, etc. Most movies have crap 5.1, very muddy & not very well mixed at all, so I'm surprised at how good a TV show sounds

I personally didn't click with Arrow in it's first few years. It's not a bad show, but it's just went from them trying to recreate the Batman movies' uber realistic version of GA. Then they went from that into starting to trust the source material of the comics. Of course, the downside there was they were using Batman comics to get all the stories and characters from. I would have preferred them to do some of the Chuck Dixon or even going back to the Neil Adams era GA stuff; those were some interesting stories. Now they're part of this extended DC TV universe where it's a land grab as they try to introduce every DC character they can get a hold of. At least with the Flash, the show was set up to be a DC Character of the week show. Arrow's not the worst show, but I can't help but feel it could be so much better. I should also point out that I get what channel it's on, so a lot of the story lines I think are huge wastes of time, like who's banging who, make sense for the target demo.

The flashbacks are also getting a bit old, and even more WTF as they go on. Next year I'm sure he'll be traveling with Rip Hunter and crew through time so they can introduce even more DC characters to his past.

Or the Green Hornet movie. LOL

Ugh... why did you have to remind me of that movie! D:

Unfortunately, you're probably watching the best season of Arrow right now. The only other decent moment that I can recall is the mid-season finale of season 3. I had stopped watching Arrow a few episodes prior to it, but after hearing about the episode, I decided to check it out.

Ultimately, I really just wish they'd consider paring down the casts to try to avoid having to give all the cast members enough screen time to make them worthwhile. To be fair, Flash has the same problem (as I've mentioned above). Getting rid of Jay helps here as he was probably the most disappointing aspect of season 2. When I heard that he would be on the show, I was pretty excited (two Flashes for the price of one! :biggrin, but he ended up being a lame duck.

Keep in mind that tonight's episode of Supergirl will be a cross-over episode with CW's The Flash. For those that may not watch it, Supergirl airs at 8PM EST on CBS.

Ugh, can't help but feel this is the Supergirl show trying to get some attention. I've seen it, it is not nearly as good as Flash (and most likely has a higher budget?).

Really too bad, at least the crossovers with Arrow/Legends made sense and were interesting, unfortunately I'm sure this will just be a poorly thought out crossover.
