ARRRGh stupid "optician" broke my glasses while making adjustmens

First off....just how messed up were your glasses?

Secondly...if you go in there angry and demanding, you probably won't get sh!t, and I hope you don't. You haven't even spoken to the manager yet. Go in, calm, do not 'confront' him, do not 'demand' anything of him, go in and speak to him about the situation, maybe you will be compensated. If you don't use that approach, you don't deserve a dime.

I've decided not to take in the letter tonight, but to tell him that I am drafting one. I'm going to be calm but firm. First I'm going to ask if either of the employees on Wednesday night are licensed opticians (the optician who sold me my new pair told me to do this). If they aren't, the manager should be more willing to compensate me. If he doesn't then I will ask for his license # and go from there.

It wasn't giant or that intense at all. Just the pushing and shoving for position near the stage, with wild swinging guys a little far back from the stage. The glasses were pushed off my face by someone crowd surfing and I caught them (the glasses). They were just crooked and seemed sturdy. A trained optician would not have proken the hinge off.

Yeah, but pits don't necessarily have to be that intense. This was more of a fun one than a kick the sh!t out of everything one (which I would have avoided)

Okay so you mess up glasses, take them to said place and hand them to said person, ask him to fix them, he tries to unmess them and the hinge breaks, you were going to need to replace them anyway but then go and pay someone to solder the hinge back on...

I'm having trouble deciding who's responsibility the glasses actually are.

From what I gather, he wasnt going to replace them.

They were just pretty crooked. Nothing had actually broken. Parts may have been stressed, but a good optician can adjust around stressed pieces of frame. If they can't adjust the frame back to normal they're supposed to tell the client this and sugest a remedy. He broke the hinge.

He does not offer to replace the frame, he directs me to go to jeweler to soder the hinge back on. I follow his directions. This was my second mistake (the first was taking them to a mall optician). I should have demanded they find a replacement frame (though I don't know if they would have the authority to do that), but I was in a state of shock.
