Too many CDRs.....so I will get ViaVoice....

BTW, if you are having problems seeing the details.
if you can't see the details of ViaVoice, you can still add it to cart and view it.

A quick little interjection here;

I'm running win2k pro, and I, as well as at least one other person I've read on here have had great trouble running using this scanner. It's slim, it has no power cable, and it's supposed to work fairly well, just kinda slow. If anyone else running win2k gets one (or has one) and has had similar troubles, please either reply somewhere along the line, or send me a message.

Other than that, its a cool looking paperweight

That is because as posted earlier in this thread, the Imation rebate ended yesterday - 4/6.

Just remember this is a CIS-based scanner (Contact Image Sensor). Their only benefits are size and you don't need an AC adaptor. Image quality is not as good as regular sized scanners based on CCD technology.

Thanks for the comments. I ordered them this morning. I like the Visioneer 8100 much.

Have anybody checked your order status? It's not working. Typically, it happens when the deal is in trouble of OOS. The STAPLES may ship out the clips only and remove the coupon.

What do I need to qualify for Norton's upgrade rebate? I have Norton Internet Security 2002 now when I bought my Compaq package. Is there anything else I can use as a proof of ownership of prior version? Quick answers appreciated!

I got one of the Artec e+48U scanners a week or so ago. Tried it out yesterday using WIN-XP. In comparing it to Visioneer 8100, and a 3-year old Canon FB620/U (was $30 after rebate at Staples), I'd say either one is considerably better than the Artec. They're faster, with better image/print quality. I can't BELIEVE how slow the Artec is! I DO like the CIS technology though (no warm-up, starts scanning instantly).

The old Canon FB620/U has zero warm-up. It starts scanning instantly, is reasonably quick, easy to use, with a pretty good image quality. I prefer it, best of the three.

The Visioneer 8100 seems very quick, needs warmup (or leave light on permanently), has good image quality if you increase the DPI a little bit. I probably haven't fiddled with it enough (or read the manual), but I haven't figured how to get it to "save" the configurations yet. I keep having to deal with on-screen selections after I push the "one-touch" buttons. Hmmmmm. I'll try more this week?

The Artec e+48U is going onto my pile of shiite! Or flea-bay, later?

Heheh... i warned about the CIS technology a few posts back. But yea, what's the benefit of no warm-up if the overall scanning is slow?? I do like the no AC adaptor required benefit... but i'll pass on this scanner. The visioneer 8100 is very nice and fast. Who cares about a 60sec warmup I never use the buttons on the scanner itself, i always use the software controls.

It took about 12 hours yesterday to get an emai confirm from Stapels on my order, apparently due to part of it being NIS "locally" although the order was accepted as usual.

Instead of the usual auto-confirm, this one was from a CSR and I am getting the scanner Tuesday, the paperclips Wednesday and the Viavoice Friday. Staples is killing itself on delivery costs. I live MILES out in the country and they are going to pay UPS for 3 separate deliveries out here. On other occasions I have had online-ordered things delivered all the way from Sacarmento to SE Virginia when local B&Ms had stacks of the same stuff they couldn't get out the door.

Oh well...

A little trrick. The IBM SW looks OOS but you can detour to rebate link, from there you can add it into you cart. Looks STAPLES disables the DIRECT link.

it may disable it because it is OOS, watch carefully about your order status. Staples may just ship one of them and take away the coupon.
If it happens, call in and see if you can ask them to ship from other warehouse if there are shock. Remember to remind them that u use a coupon when they re-route from other warehouse.
otherwise, you have to return it to store.

ok this whole scanner thing is really getting annoying. if it really is such a POS then it's not worth the 20 you pay for it.

My thoughts exactly. And even if I did have it, it'd be collecting dust since i'd want to use my visioneer 8100 all the time
