Artifacts?

I just started getting artifacts. Now when I start a 3d prog it does this crazy polygon mess. and even the desktop has line artifacts. I'm thinking its the video card. I installed the 5.8s to see if it would help, but it doesn't appear too. Any other suggestions, besides getting a X850 XT ?

Otherwise, if you didn't... time to buy.

if it's overclocked put it back to default and see if that helps.. if not maybe the fan on the cooler is broken and causing it to overhead.. otherwise it's dying

I had 2 friends w/ 9800 Pros have the same problem. It was a PSU issue for them - going from a Generic 350w PSU to a 550 Thermaltake solved it for both of them

Try what he says. Also clean the heat sink and fan. Make sure the fan can spin freely and make sure the fan motor still works. If you overclocked it try underclocking it. If the artifacts still remain after underclocking it, the card could be fried from an overclock that was too high (the biggest risk of video card overclocking). Gains from Overclocking a video card are usualy very small, so it usualy is not worth while.
