Everyone of my friends and family hate you guys.

I don't. I love all you guys for all your quirks and crazy ass personal beliefs. Don't ever stop being you guys. Personal hero of mine is Benjamin Franklin.

Right back at you Canadians. I'm a lover not a fighter. Also love Ben and all the Founding Fathers, for what they contextually represented at that moment in time.

Wait, you love Ben Franklin, but want us to cool it on the gun thing? Do you know anything about Ben Franklin other than his cool quotes? Maybe you forgot this one:

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Oh, and Franklin even organized a local militia at one point in his life.

Ben Franklin's autobiography is one of my favorite books. I should read it again. It's been awhile.

Since we are just a few months away from the 90th anniversary of the Canadians Burning Down the White House, this seems a timely post.

For a few years, I had a Canadian Astronaut as a neighbour. He played in the Astronaut Band. Changed the convertible top on his own Mustang GT. All around good guy. Though, he did tell some Canadian jokes. For example:
Question
How do you get 20 drunk Canadians out of the pool?
Answer Say
Please get out of the pool.

Still, the next time you guys want to burn down the White House, let us know. You might have more fans than you realize.

Please tell your friends there is a huge difference between America and it's foreign policy. Hating the American governments policy is easy, much of us hate it too. The population however is very diverse and as a whole, it doesn't deserve their hatred.

dude! 90th? I don't think so.

Battle of Bladensburg was in 1812.

The Battle of Bladensburg took place during the War of 1812. The defeat of the American forces there allowed the British to capture and burn the public buildings of Washington, D.C. It has been called "the greatest disgrace ever dealt to American arms".

I went to the states once, TBH most people we talked to were pretty nice. I only went to Detroit though so I can't really paint a picture of the entire country by going to one city. It was before the car companies had issues and city went to crap, so it was just a regular city. We did not go to the urban part, just the race track. I do remember seeing the GM building and stuff though but that was from the Windsor (Canada) side.

I would imagine all the houses we saw are probably all abandoned or gone now. It seemed so lively there when we went.

Yeah, Canadians are the butt of more jokes than they deserve (although I'm sure the opposite is true over the border ). I've got some Canadian relatives, and while we've got substantial political disagreements they're damn good people.

We all want more-or-less the same things, mostly we just disagree on how to get there.

I get to hang out with a bunch of hosers every week when I go to Port Colborne to jump or Toronto to fly in the tunnel. All in all they are really nice. I gotta remind them that Mur'ca is the land of gods, guns, and obesity and not to fuck with us. We all just look at each other seriously and then laugh out loud when I say that.

i too as a Canadian appreciate the US being our southern neighbour and good friend. Since Canada is militarily weak, compared to the US, then its to the benefit of Canada that you are strong so other countries will think twice about attacking or invading. As for the war of 1812-1814 I doubt canada would ever invade the US again and live to tell the tale. But Canada is not the land of milk and honey at all, it has many problems, some long term problems. I like the fact that Americans are not afraid to stand up to intruders into their homes and can take actin to defend their families, in Canada if you shoot an intruder then you probably will go to jail. Also the roads are a lot better in the US, the old joke is how does a canadian go form east to west on canadian roads, he doesn't because he uses the Interstate. I could write a lot more but thats it for now.

Not sure I'd call you guys "weak". Sure you don't have the US's overwhelming force projection capabilities, but from what I know of your military you guys are pretty squared away. From all appearances an invasion of Canada would be extremely difficult even without US involvement.
