AS5 on a Vapochill Micro?

I'm planning to go for the mainstream Asetek HSF, but they use a proprietary thermal paste. How much cooler could I get it if I cleaned it with some Arctic Cleaner 1+2 and put on some AS5?

My experiences with AS5 are that it is NOT anything to pin your hopes of significantly lower temps...
As with most things AS5 works better under vasrious different conditions.

You will have popel like myself who have seen no marked improvement in temps using AS5.

While others will push you to use AS5 stating you could see anywghere from 4-10c improvement which is bogus!

At besy 1-3 c is what you might but might not get...

I did just that with a Vapochill Micro Ultra Low Noise.

Worked great. Just make sure to remove the grease with something proper that won't leave sediment etc.

Te,mpwise on a P180 case with 2 x 120mm low speed and A64 at 2.6ghz @1.5v temps were 43C load in normal room temps. Worked great for such a low weight HS and relatatively inexpensive (in the UK at least)

Has anybody tested the Vapochil Micro on both horizontal (desktop) and vertical (tower) mainboards? Was there a difference in performance? From the pictures, it appears that when mounted on a horizontal mainboard, the heatpipes will be much closer to vertical than they'd be if mounted on a vertical mainboard.

I think someone did a test on that and there was no or absolutely negiligble difference - just make sure you get the heatsink directly absolutely straight up according to their specs.

Also I'd recommend the DFI installation method as standard for all boards as it gives closer and better contact - you can find it in asetek's forums.

Excellent cooler - create a duct off out to the back etc if you can for even better results
