The Ceramique is easier to apply. Done correctly, the silver will get you a degree or two C cooler. Not enough diff to fret over, IMO.

I agree.

I second this statement. Personally i would invest in some MX-1 by artic cooling. Its cheaper then AS5 and im starting to hear a lot of good reviews from it.

I agree, but you can get both of the AS goops at a low price plus with free shipping so the price wins out. But as other say, there are lots of goops that work within a 1 or 2 deg. C range. Besides the one mentioned above there are also the newer Shin Etsu goops that are easier to apply than the original. For me, it's ease of application and price that wins the day. That said, I've got enough Arctic Silver (silver as I was sucked in some years ago) here to last my natural lifetime. So I won't be buying anything else.

The MX-1 actually costs more than AS5 at svc.com. Whereas AS5 is 5.99 with free shipping, MX-1 is 7.95 and you still have to pay shipping. However, from what I've seen, MX-1 does indeed perform slightly better than AS5 even without a burn-in period.

Yep, agree with RallyMaster. AC MX-1 coupled with a Freezer 4 has dropped idle temps on my parents' Pentium 4 3.0Ghz Northwood HT to 31C...and that's in the summertime where temps are ~80F outside, with no A/C on.

Although unless you really care about 1 or 2 degrees of temp difference, just get AS5 and save some money. Ceramique is easier to apply tho, but both arent't too hard.

I see zero difference between AS5 and ceramique...really no different in application process..generally a small dab

as for burn I have used AS5 now for at least 5 builds and I never see a temp drop as it cures....

I have not used any product but AS3,AS5 and ceramique...

I really believe this stuff is so over rated the more I use it....I have to look into the AC MX-1

My water blocks came with AS ceramique so I have no need to get anything else
