Jesus=Not God, therefore , worshipping him=breaking the first commandment. No, he is not the same person. Thanks. That is all.

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are One and the same. Your "argument" (troll) is invalid.

Actually, it's just Judaism...

Didn't God say you shall not worship anyone/anything before me...

Apparently, beyond my reason , God and Jesus is one in the same.

That doesn't make any sense. Anyone who believes that is foolish for one, and secondly, like you said, they are breaking the first commandment.

You and I both know religion is full of contradictions

Yes it is. Its just fun to find them

What is this...the "extremely long, stroke each other's hatred for religion" quote? And it's not like you probably care or will even attempt to respect this opinion (in fact you'll probably just use it to troll some more....big surprise there), but the Bible does in fact say that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are 3 in 1. There is only 1 God who we worship but three seperate parts make up the whole. Our human minds in our sinful state cannot comprehend this idea, but one day it will be made clear to some people.

How am I trolling, by stating my own opinions? I'm in a World Religions course right now, and even the experts on these religions say there are contradictions. Yes, let me put you down now because your mind is much "clearer" than mine since I have a differing opinion.

I don't usually try to debate with a person who is obviously trolling, but if you are in fact asking a serious question here and want to know more, I'd be willing to do some research on it and come back with some references. If you are just flamming away and trying to be some sort of attention whore then please don't ask me to waste my time.

Q: Is Ash Wednesday based on a pagan festival?

A: Sort of, Since Ash Wednesday is based on the time table of Easter one could say yes since Easter is heavily based on pagan rites. However, the actual rite ascribed to ash Wednesday bare more similarities to the Jewish holiday of Passover. Sidenote, Wednesday is named after the Norse Pagan god Odin which is spelled Woden in many text just as Thursday (Thorsdat) = Thor's day Friday (Frysdat) Fry's day (the Norse god of fertility and mischief

Q: Will Catholics get upset about this post
A: Probably even though they shouldn't. Pagan holiday were incorporate in to many Christian rites to help increase converts.

Just so you know (if you really do) Jesus never wanted people to worship him. (In fact he never really claimed to be the messiah according to a lot of religious scholars.) Instead he taught people to love God and each other. Here is a good quote that has been attributed to Jesus in Mark 12:29 when he was asked about which of the commandments is the most important:

"Jesus answered: "The first is, 'Hear, Israel, the Lord your God is one Lord, and you are to love the Lord Your God with all your heart and all your soul and with all your energy.' The second is this: 'You are to love your neighbor as yourself.' there is no other commandment greater than these."

It is hard thought to really credit this saying to Jesus though because it is also drawn form so many other sourses, Deut 6:4-5; Lev 19:18 Gal 5:14. Also, there is a Rabbi by the name of Hellel who was a contemperary of Jesus who echoed this state ment when he was asked by a proselyte to teach the whole of the Torah while the student stood on one foot. To this Hillel responded "What you find hateful do not do to another. This is the whole of the Law. Everything else is Commentary. Now go learn that!"

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
one in being with the father....

If you "are seriously asking" and want to learn, then may I suggest try searching.
1 simple search in google: Results

Keep in mind everyone that this is not just a Catholic belief, but rather a core belief of all Christians

Thanks for the explanation. Sorry if I came off judgemental. I grow up in a family where they was a lot of religious turmoil seeing as my mother was brought up Jewish and my father Christian. It caused a lot of problems between my parents, and I guess I grow up almost hating Christianity because of this. It seems as though Jesus was a good man, and any one would love and worship him must be good to. I know I have a lot of hate in me, and I'm sorry for saying anything hateful. I know I need to change my views, it all does is hurt people and it doesn't make my family any better. Everyone believes different things, and we all have to respect that. Again, I'm sorry. I hope you and the other Christian have a good Ash Wednesday.

Don't sweat it. Unfortunately a lot of Christians tend to go for "eye for an eye" instead of "turning the other cheek". Anyways, if someone can't stand having their faith challanged it isn't much of a faith.

No problem. It's often hard to tell on this board whether people are serious or whether they just hop into a thread and throw around some stupid smack to get people all worked up. I tend to assume that people are just trolling (bad assumption on my part). And we all know religion is a sensative issue for most people so emotions get going rather quickly. Respect from both parties goes a long ways.

It's ? by the way, not an X.

Any more wisdom you'd like to impart upon us?
Here is some wisdom for you, it is supposed to be a ?, but priests get so lazy it usually comes out like an X. How do I know? I went to Cathloic church for 20+ yrs. Now who is the closed minded idiot? I know both sides, the religious side and the scientific/common sense side. Unfortunately you're still stuck in the fairy tale side.
But please, make sure your priest draws the ? on correctly for you. But rest assure, you'll look just as dumb as the people with Xs on their forehead.

It took you 20+ years! Sorry dude. Actually I do have a question, do you still believe in the teachings of Jesus or did you just throw everything out the window.

You know whats funny about posts/people like this? Is that they are so ignorant and bullheaded. You have your belief and I have mine. Don't preech to me about how there is no God and that "common sense" dictates it. And I will not preach to you about how I beleive there is a God and why you should beleive in him. Deal?

I BELIEVE there is one God... Do I beleive that mine is the only viable religion? No... but do I practice my religion? Yes... for me and for my kids sake. I pray every day there is something after life on earth, and honestly if there is not, then will it matter? No... I'll be dead. I'll never even realize it.

Sorry your priests didnt paint the Sistine Chappel on your forehead... its a symbol. Nothing more. You've added nothing to this thread except anger and hostility from the onset.

Thank-you for calling me and my wife psychopaths. You don't know a thing about me other than I am Catholic, yet you label and diminish me as a person. That is quite simply the most close-minded, intolerant thing I have ever seen tolerated on this board in nearly 5 years. And believe me, I have debated Catholicism on here a LOT in the past.

Atheist whine and bitch how religions was unfairly imposing/pushing their belief toward them or condemn them, yet at the very first moment they have a chance to attack/insult religions, they pounce on it in a heart beat.

Quite the hypocrites aren't they?
