tape US Passport to forehead. done.

$100 American Dorra goes a long way too. Especially in the clubs of Manila. Just watch to make sure there aren't any hidden surprises when you take a "girl" home. :sneaky:
(This actually happened to a friend of a friend)

If your idea of going to Asia is for romance, stop. I dated a Chinese girl who was a recent arrival. She had been here some 5 years prior to meeting her, but there were still cultural differences, or I'd make references to things she didn't get, and vice versa. It takes a lot of work to really maintain that. I did learn a lot from her though.

Better to date Asian American women who were born here.

I have lived in Asia twice (Singapore and China) and am in Shanghai right now. I am married (non-Asian), so I have not been looking while here, but it is pretty straightforward.

Maybe 15 years ago Chinese women were particularly interested in Westerners, but that was mainly in the interest of bettering their life. Now there are plenty of well off Chinese guys. The well educated Chinese women can move themselves if they want to. English teaching is a low paying and low status job.

As a general rule of thumb, the poorer countries have women that want a meal ticket. The women there tend to be from rural places and be less educated.

There are always a certain amount of women that want to go out with a white guy because it is different, but there are a lot of westerners in Asia already.

If you like Asian women, you obviously have a much better chance to find someone here as there are by definition more Asian women in Asia, but if you think they will be falling all over you, prepare to be disappointed. Not speaking the local language also really restricts who you can meet and talk to.

Want some advice? If you go to Asia and you want a quality Asian chick you better be rich. Doesn't matter if you got a good personality or whatnot. Long-term quality? You have to have $$. If not you will get the trash...which you may be down for.

Like I said, no one is getting high quality women travelling. They are getting the discards that are prostitutes.

The sad part is most probably think those women are innocent virgins.

That is not what I said. I have met plenty of high quality women in Asia. I travel on business as well quite frequently. If you are meeting girls in bars, then you have a high chance of meeting lower quality women (if in bars frequented by foreigners). However, if you meet people via local business contacts (who are educated and normal people), there are plenty of women here that are not "discards that are prostitutes".

The difference is that you have the same chance with them as you would if you did not travel.

So basically, you gave your opinions based on facts pulled out of your ginormous asshole without ever set foot to anywhere near Asia. Keep fighting the good fight, brah.

You don't know shits, and that's also fact. Mine is based on conclusive evidence.
What else is new.

Yes i see your point guys, but this is rather more a "get out of europe" deal than just getting laid.

I have a full time job, i suppose i could work here all my life. Except every day would be like the next, and i really feel the dullness is getting to me.

If you are from the states, and you've never lived here, you won't know how f* dull these people are. Lock yourself in a closet and stare at a wall for a day, and you'll have an image of what it's like to live here.

I'm going to fuckin die of depression if i stay here. I *need* to move, and given my poor skill set, asia and english teaching seems the only way out, right now.

Maybe there's other ways .. but i have spent the last 10 years trying to find a way to happiness and i came up empty. So maybe tyhis won't be a revolution, but at least it will be a change of scenery.

I came to Japan about 6 years ago on a CELTA. The money is merely okay at the start but read around about the companies.
Some companies can really try to screw you, relying on the fact that you are reliant on them. But It can also be rewarding.
As far as finding girls goes, it's not that hard (I'm now married to a Japanese lady), you'll find there will always be some who want to find a western boyfriend. Usual caveats about relationships apply

Ultimately it is a good change of scenery and if you attempt to learn the language and other skills it can look good on your CV if/when you return

Move to a different country but not one that won't be a huge culture shock for you or move to the states.

Speaking about women wanting something different:

I have an acquaintance from Canada who moved to Sweden for a job. He's brown. He absolutely loved it there because he said the local women found him interesting. The blonde-haired blue-eyed Swedes seemed to go out of their way to meet him, much more so than the Caucasian women back in Canada. Presumably it was because he was different, whereas in Canada (particularly Toronto, where he's from), he's just like everyone else as South Asians represent a significant chunk of the population here.

However, the difference is he was a fairly good looking guy (I'm told), well-educated, and with a good job. I betcha if he had been a poor ugly brown guy, he would not have been anywhere near as popular. And plus, this was 20 years ago. I'm told that Sweden has become more multicultural since then, but I don't know since I've never been to Sweden.

I used to work for Interac, they're not illegal but have some dodgy practices. In general, a lot of the companies that bring people across from Europe/USA on the bare minimum care only about keeping costs low, not retaining good staff.

But this can work in your favour. These companies will sort out your visa and it's easier to find a good job once you've arrived. If you check out places like Gaijinpot, most of the nicer jobs state you have to be already here. You just come here, work until you find a job and then give your one month's notice (or not in some cases...) and move on.

I can't really name that many with first-hand accounts, just those that friends of friends have talked about.

Have you considered that you're the problem?

When you move to wherever, you'll still be you. Trying to find external things to make you happy generally does not work.

Good luck.

Does that change anything? A lot of the women interested in him back then were strong well-educated women with good jobs too.

OP, do you want to go to developed countries or developing countries in Asia? BIG difference. Let me know and I can help. I spent a few years in Asia and my last trip to Asia was a few months ago and am going back within a few more months.

What do you mean "high intermix"? I was in Vietnam recently and I did not see any more Chinese in Vietnam than any other Asian countries.

Regional but China does share a large border with Viet Nam and there's a lot of Vietnamese that does business in China and vice versa.
