Pulse really affects you. It sucks you in, & you feel like sh1t after watching it. Very goood movie. Never saw the American remake.
I recently saw
Lady Snowblood & even though it was stiff at times, it was brutal & sad too.
Chunking Express was very quaint & well done. Leung talking to his apartment made me seriously smirk.
As Tears Go By, was a little simple, but it kept me entertained.
Even though the reviews aren't that great, I really enjoyed watching
Chinese Box. The whole atmosphere of the handover really sets the movie.
Long Arm of the Law is a cheap shooter that gets good about halfway through & gets great at the end.
I thought the
Inferal Affairs trilogy was definately overrated, except for the great character that is SP Wong, with a slight nod to Hon, & even his girlfriend Mary from IA2. I thought the kids playing the two undercovers weren't good enough for their roles.
Farewell My Concubine was too drawn out, especially the stage scenes, which got too repetative. Nice story though.
To Live was a great emotional rollercoaster. Adversity despite what has happened. The will to continue on is so tragic.
I haven't yet seen
In the Mood for Love, or
2046, but I've heard good things.
Once a Thief is a decent movie. It plays like a straight-laced crime caper, there's a little setback, then for the finale, the twist just goes apesh1t & just totally tanks itself, but it's funny to watch.
Mountain Patrol is a movie that I recently saw, about a group of volunteer patrolmen in the mountains of Tibet. They set out to capture & prevent the poaching of their sacred antelope. Based on a true story so it says.
