Ok ive been to a few sushi places in the past few months and everytime i order a house salad and its the best salad ive ever had EVER.

Ive asked every sushi place the name of there dressing and everytime i get ''house dressing''

All i know is that it has a orangeish color and has sesame seeds in it. Ive bough a WaFu sauce which is sesame bassed but it doenst even come close to this ''house'' dressing.

If anyone could help me out on this one it would be greatly appreciated (i just want to confirm theres crack in it... its that good )

Thanks!

PS: Dragon eyes are awsome...

Japanese salad dressing is miso based. If you have miso soup, it's kind of similar.

Here's what I found, hope it helps.

The pungent miso also adds vitamins, protein, and nutrients to this healthy, low-fat dressing, which contains just a 1/4 teaspoon of sesame oil. Serve drizzled on top of a simple salad of iceberg lettuce and shaved carrots.

Yields: 1 cup

Ingredients:

3/4 cup red miso
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons mirin (Japanese rice wine)
2 tablespoons hot water
2 teaspoons light soy sauce
1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
1/2 head iceberg lettuce, torn
1 carrot, thinly sliced

In a small bowl, combine miso and sugar. Add mirin, water, soy sauce, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. Stir until well blended. Serve over lettuce and carrot slices. Toss to combine

I believe so.

OP they use soy paste (this is a binder just like mustard) and rice wine vinegar some spices (including ginger) and sugar.

It is very easy to make. But you have to figure out the balance that suits your taste.

This is correct

Man, I love sushi but sushi restaurants make some of the worst salads and I'm not talking about the dressing. I mean what could be better than a bowl full of iceberg lettuce?

It's not miso based.

you mentioned that it tastes like mayo and probably has pink color.

It's a mixture of ketchup, mayo, sesame seed/oil, ginger juice.

Sort of like thousand island dressing

Im all confused now.

So i will be buying miso paste, sesame oil, ginger juice and mirin.

I doubt there was ketchup in it, but i will try it anyway.

Different places use different "house dressing," but the most common is ginger dressing in my experience.

This dressing is very good and very close to the taste of my local sushi places' dressings.

EDIT: All of their dressings are VERY good, I recommend trying them all:
