All words come with historical context. I guess it's inappropriate due to a social tone. You're free to use 'oriental' to your Asian colleagues or friends. It'll make you look pretty.... dated though. And that's not the Asian guy's fault - your 'white' coworkers probably feel the same. Why do Asians get so triggered when soneone says "oriental"?
(I dont do this since my one GF went apeshit on me years ago.)
Hahahaha love the how you change the l to an r and not me.
So I'll ask a real question:
Do you think there is an issue with affirmative action in relation to Asians not being accepted into colleges because of 'quotas' ? Or is all of that just bs?
Unlike most folks in today's political climate, I don't have a conclusive opinion on all topics. I understand the pros and cons of AA.
My initial take is:
1. Colleges should be based on merit-only.
2. I understand these top Ivy League schools' decisions for every acceptance are flawed. I mean we all are, we're human. And of course their admittance process does not have tranparency.
3. It's glaringly true they probably 'nerf' Asian acceptance to make it more racially diverse.
4. Why do Asians have to suffer because of their skin color?
I have not thought about this all the way. Of course you want what's best for you/your group/etc. If Asians are dominating the requirements of college acceptance, why should we suffer for it?
Is it true what they say about asiansIt's Friday and my work is mostly done. Today's age, above is really meaningless since everyone takes a different path in life, but whatever I'm going to roll with it.
Go ahead.

I'm 1/4 Asian. Can I join all the Asian-American clubs?
I consider myself a Native American. I was born here and I figure that makes me about as native as one could get.
Are you OK with that?
