So if you bring your car to the DVM with these installed, it'll fail the safety inspection right?

If the due in the video had his mirrors adjusted properly he would have seen that car anyway. Guess he likes his car so much he feels the need to look at it in his mirrors, rather than the blind spot. Probably a dash stroker as well.

lol, that guy has some pretty horrible mirror adjustment going on. I'm not even sure if some of my vehicles mirrors will go in that far(yes thats even including the possibility that the camera was more in the center of the car than the driver). Pretty pathetic. And in some vehicles a typical 'head check' wont work, such as a single cab pickup with a camper shell. But then you just pick up the mentioned spot mirrors for a few bucks.

If a person can't adjust the stock mirrors to eliminate the blind spot on a car as small as the Golf, that person is too incompetent to be behind the wheel. A person would have to be a complete and utter moron to set the mirrors at the position they show for the "OEM Mirrors."

It's very clear to me that the people who made that video are intentionally setting the OEM mirrors wrong to make their unnecessary and overpriced product look useful. What is sad is that there are actually people out there who will believe the video and get tricked into buying a superfluous product.

1) It's "aspheric" not "aspherical"

2) Those are freeforms, not aspheres

Yeah, pretty much. I have no blind spots on either of my cars (including an E46 M3 similar to the OP's). No idea why anyone would want this product, much less for $200 (or is it $300?).

I sent a steering wheel to Poland for (much) less than $100. Maybe mirrors are heavy...you should get them in carbon fiber.

There is a good reason why you probably are no longer employed even at basic things

Here is the post you quoted, trying to 'play cop' and get me in a lie:
BTW saying Pep Boys to me is even more funny seeing I spent $300 yesterday to get the aspheric mirrors for my M3 and a $70 ashtray to just salvage the chrome trim (got sucked out by my detailer) on my front ashtray lid.

I never shop at Pep Boys
So we have a $70 ashtray assembly in that mix. The mirrors were $200...

I am sure you can do even this simple math and clear your head now.

Just a cheap shot any way you look at it...
I'm about to go through this whole thread and see just how condescending you really are...
I warned you about this but you do not listen...

These mirrors are OEM, they are the ones designed for the M3 by BMW. US laws need to have that passenger mirror be one of the ones where objects are closer than they appear.

These allow you to eliminate blind spots and have a wider view behind and to the side of you. If you don't understand the advantage of that then they probably aren't for you.

They are very helpful when looking over your shoulder could have you rear-ending someone.

Yeah, european OEM mirrors were superfluous on all cars overseas.

Were you the guy that recommended cinder blocks as jack stands too?

And for sure not real smart to be condescending to a Moderator...

In all my years of driving, checking my blind spot has never once left me subject to running into someone. Perhaps it's because I don't check my blindspot for 30+ seconds at a time. Perhaps it's because I don't ride people's asses while driving down the road. I dunno.

It seems to me these are only for people who want their mirrors adjusted in a sub-optimal manner. I don't have to look over my shoulder because I set my mirrors in the SAE-recommended manner and don't have any blind spots. I see no advantage to these mirrors.

Were these actually spec'ed on Euro cars or just an option? I have driven many different cars in Europe (albeit no E46 M3s) and have never encountered these mirrors. Cars in Europe often have convex mirrors on the drivers side but I have never seen these things or anything like them.

Maybe your driving conditions are different.

I drove 8000 miles since December, six weeks my car was parked
