I know it doesn't have the "antec" name but look at stats, and then look at it... what do yall think??

no

Aspire PSU's are just over hyped power supplies, and not much better then no namer brands

most of the stats on it are the rated maximum, not the continual (meaning that thats the max the PSU can output for 60second burst's, so take the numbers they list and subtract by %5-10 or so)

Save the trouble and get an actual QAULITY power supply

It works like this :

You will PROBABLY be fine with the Aspire.

You will KNOW you will be fine with an Antec.

i tried telling you, QAULITY

first off, Antec's dont cost $150. You can get good ones for $90 or less (the best ones though, the TruePowerII are $115)

second, a power supply made by most companies (aspire, powtech, and other "no namers") dont ensure quality. The ratings they give you are always more then what they are

so, if you get an Aspire thats rated at 480W, in reality it will preform at 400W or even 380W

but, if you get an Antec thats 480W, it will preform at, or in alot of cases more then, 480W

like i said, QAULITY

If you cant spend enough on a good, qaulity power supply, expect to have to buy a new, no namer every couple of months, or if worst comes to worst, expect to have some fried components

pcp&c, seasonic, tagan, fortron, sparkle, antec, ocz, xclio, enermax, and zippy are the ones you should be shopping for.

yeah man, why do you want to buy a crappy thing that has the power to fry all of your components one day when it feels like its gonna cause you some trouble?

Spend 75 dollars on a fortron blue storm 500 at actbuy. Its better than the lower voltage antec tp2's and usually cost over 100.

it looks more like the specs of a rosewill. especially the 10ms hold up time.

but your rationale is sound though. cars have 4 doors, 4 wheels and an engine, how different could they be?

at any rate, there are far better choices for the same or a bit more $$.

I have the 500w version..

When they say 520w, they mean that its the PEAK LOAD, while more quality brands has a higher peak load than stated.

The +12v rail is always low, but it can hold up many components. Just don't expect to do EXTREME overclocking out of it. 2.0-2.4 Ghz is the max I'd overclock with my aspire... Any higher created issues.

Let's just say, I bought an enermax 485w noisetaker when I could.

so what ricemarine is trying to tell you, dont waste your money.....

i would bet you $100 that my ePower Tagan 480W puts out more watts then that Aspire 520W PSU

Ok, what is a good PS in that price range that offers same features(multiple fans, wrapped cords, fan speed nob) and is 24pin/sli ready then?

and is there any articles testing various PS's that state these issues and test various different solutions

not to sound like an ass, but you've been here a while and i know you've seen a ton of psu threads.....

how are you going to get advice with out saying what you want to power?

if you're on a budget the last thing you want to do is spend money for bling so forget the sleeved cables. or do it yourself.

a single 120mm fan is often if not always as good or better than two 80mms.

as for reviews, x bits probably the best and extreme oc is good too.

ive seen alot of ppl discuss it and think its a interesting topic actually as ive never seen anyone backup what they are saying. Ive got a thread and have posted under the official "I need 24pin" sticky (I decided to go with XClio 450 before I noticed this ps btw and wanted opinions). Your right I do know everyone always says Antec, FSP, OCZ, Enermax, Sparkle, XClio etc but I never see anything proving why these solutions are better other than the opinions of others. I'm just wondering what makes everyone always say to buy these kind of PSU, I really haven't found any articles testing various PSU, i'm on a 40-60$ budget and trying to get the best I can, and yes I do like all the "bling, bling" of the aspire so what makes it a bad choice?

aspire is somewhat like a generic, and i've read a few stories involving these psu's. we do support our comments, what makes you think we dont, you've only been here since mid-july. i highly doubt you did any reasonable searching, i've gotten many reviews of various psu's from this forum and google. heres a start. do a search in that site, theres a ton of reviews.

reliability...and most of all, it wont fry your system or cause it to restart.

Tagan is ePower but the Tagan series is better than their other ones from the same brand. As for OCZ, xclio and enermax, there are mixed reviews. TTGI should also be on the list but their 12v rails are lagging a bit on their Super Flower. Zippy ones are REALLY good....they make server class PSUs, but also ones for ATX that cost around 80 dollars. Post what you plan on using this Aspire psu for. If its a very low end system then it should be OK. As for the rig in your sig..i would think a andtec 350 watt psu would do. Just depends on the case.

Figured I'd resurrect this old thread. I have no problems at all with my Aspire PSU in my game system. I did just have my Antec 430 die right after the warranty ended. I'm really not sure if I'll buy another Antec after this.
