Aspire X-Qpack looks nice

Aspire X-Qpack

I saw this posted on the 'Egg even before they had them in stock. Has a similar layout to the Antec Aria, but looks pretty sharp and riced a bit. Seems to be a rebadged Chenming 118 case (heck, seems like many cases on the market are rebadged Chenmings). Would end up costing about $10 less than the Aria, another indicator that Newegg plays shipping games. The Aria is a smaller case by a tiny bit and I'm sure they weigh within a pound or two of each other, but the Aria costs $5 more to ship?

The Aria is wider by 1.6", how... I don't know since they both hold a mATX motherboard flat on the bottom. Perhaps the Aria has a bit of space between the edges of the motherboard and case sides. The Aria is shorter by around 2". Those extra 2" gives the X-Qpack another 5¼" CDROM bay. The X-Qpack is deeper by .8".

The X-Qpack has almost a standard ATX power supply. It looks to be a tiny bit shorter. Kinda disappointing because if they made the case just )( that much deeper then a standard power supply could be utilized. Now, I could be wrong about the power supply since I'm just going by the pictures. The Aria has been around a while and people have used, abused and reviewed it. Just want to know if the X-Qpack can indeed take a standard ATX power supply and how quiet it is. Oh yeah, stock "420W" power supply only has a measly 13A on the +12v.

If they were cheaper or if I knew for sure they can take a standard PSU, I'd probably get one just because.

Anyone have any comments/links regarding this case?

. Are you sure only 13A@12V? I think this is split rail with two +12 outputs. The total of the listed wattages doesn't come near 420. They must have screwed up the Wattage table.

Got message from Aspire - actually 20A@+12V... Mfr of PSU mislabeled it - they have to wait for next shipment to change the label.

It's a standard ATX power supply. If you buy a build from Cyberpower in one of these cases, they'll switch out the PSU for you.

Thanks for the info. Now to find a blue one in stock somewhere. Knowing that I can switch out the power supply is good in case the included one is too noisy/overrated. My next concern would be the slide out motherboard tray. Looks neat, but then I can't mount one of those huge heatpipe tower coolers on the CPU. Would be great to have the 120mm case fan pull air through a heatpipe tower without needing an additional fan.

from what I understand it does take standard ATX PSU's, but the one that comes with it is slightly shorter.

with a normal sized ATX PSU, optical drives won't fit unless you get the shorter ones from LiteOn

my guess is you get a LiteOne optical drive (shorter) and the fit is tighter then hell. The standard PSU on that unit is a lot shorter then a normal PSU. Check the dementions for that case, it's good sized for a Mini case, but it's gonna be cramped if you put full sized components in it

Oh, no doubt the power supply that comes with it is short than normal. I noticed that in the pics over at Newegg.

When you said Lite-On, I wasn't even thinking of the Lite-On drives, which are shorter.. I was thinking of Lite-On power supplies.

But when you look at the specs on Cyberpower's website, you'll see they're specifying Sony, Plextor, LG, NEC, Pioneer, etc. drives. None of which are short like the Lite-On's.

Here's a novel idea... I know this suggestion is as sacrilegious as suggesting someone should go shop at a B&M, but maybe someone should just pick up the phone and call them and ask about clearance issues? If you still want to be uber-geek, you could use your VoIP connection to call.

True. But that doesn't change the fact that most Lite-On drives are 6 3/4" deep and most Sony's (like the one's listed on Cyberpower's site) are 7 1/2" deep.

It doesn't really matter because even standard length drives will fit with a standard size ATX PSU - it'll just be a bit tight.
Don't know why what Cyberpower uses is even being discussed - almost no one from here would be buying from them anyway. Most anyone here could do a better job picking components to fit a given situation than they do.

Used a Sony CDRW/DVD (not DVDR) drive recently in a build and it was really short. It was pretty much a square when viewed from above.

I said that a standard one MUST work because Cyberpower is using standard ATX size power supplies in their builds. The Quebert came in and said you'd have to use a shorter drive, and I said, "Yeah, but they're allowing you to choose from a large selection of drives too."

I agree that anyone here would do a better/cheaper job of building one up. I went through their shopping cart for fun and ended up with an almost $2K machine with an A64 3200+!

Now that we're all caught up....

If someone gets one of these and gets it together, let me know. I want to get one to put one up on top of some equipment on a 19" swing rack and I don't plan on using the included PSU either. SFF's are too small (don't allow me to use two hard drives AND two opticals AND a floppy.)

Ya, I found the x-qpack on newegg befor it was even out, so i preordered it and got it about a week ago, its blue, but just so everyone knows the windows arnt actually tinted at all, but thats better, the PSU they shipped with mine didnt work but the fine people at Aspire sent me a new one, but durring that time i used a Ultra-xconnect and it was HUGE, you CANNOT use optical drives unless like stated befor they are the short liteon ones, but i give this case an A+, the temp readout is awesome, fan isnt to loud, sturdy materials, its a big improvement from the Antec Aria i had before.

Do you know if a 6800gt will fit in this case, i love this case and i want to use my 6800gt with it. from the looks of it it doesnt look like it will fit.

Does the PSU have a 24-pin connector? I'm looking to build one of these this summer with a micro-ATX Radeon XPRESS 200 motherboard and a X800 XL. The manufacturer website still shows a 13A 12V, but it's safe to assume that's incorrect? I don't want to buy a 2nd power supply I'm cheap that way.

Yea 6800GT or 6600GT, anyone knwo if they will fit or not? the X-Qpack does seem like a good portable case unlike the Thermaltake Monster Kandalf case I had my eyes set on.

It's a 20 pin.
